072538420 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, July 25th at 7:30 P119--3g The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 7:30 O'clock P.M. July 25,1938. Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor. " Walter S. Coleman " A.W.Lee " M.J.Lodge City Attorney Fred R. Wilson City Clerk F.S. Lamson Chief of Police R.G.Williams Absent: Commissioner N.R.Dupree (Sickness) Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of regular meeting of the City Commission and meeting of the Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board of July 11th. and adjourned meeting of the City Commission of July 12th. 1938 read and approved. Mr.J.R. Tatum, former employee at the Fire Department, next presented application for employment in any capacity with the City, and same was ordered.filed. Mr.R.J.Reel next presented statement of amount owed by the Sanford Baseball Club for bus used to transport the players , also unpaid gasoline account against the Club, and requested permission to be allowed to credit these amounts against his City Taxes. Action deferred. On motion of Commissioner Lodge, seconded by Commissioner Lee and carried, the Uommission next approved the purchase from N.L.Cooper of Refunding Bonds Series "B" Numbers 528,529,606,607,608,609,610,611 with coupons due Sept 1, 1938 and subse- quent attached, at a price of $420.00 per bond and accrued interest, the funds for this purpose to be taken from the sinking fund being accumulated from revenues of the Water Department. The Commission was next advised of the inability of Transit Mix Concrete , Inc. to complete their contract to deliver 840 Cu. Yards of DeLeon shell to Fort Mellon Park at a price of $1.95 per yard, delivered. Offer next received from F.A.Maxwell to deliver the balance of shell required for this project at a price of $2.30 per yard delivered. Thereupon;, in view of the need for this shell for the Park and the inability to obtain a lower price, Commissioner Lee moved that the offer of F.A.Maxwell be accepted. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried. Mr. H.J.Lehman and Capt. Ralph Rose next presented the need for financial assistance for the Salvation Army and requested that $500.00 be placed in the next year's budget for this purpose. Seconded by Commissioner Lee and carried. Communication next read from the Sanford Atlantic National Bank requesting that the 10 City of Sanford bonds Series A. purchased for account of the City of Sanford in accordance with resolution adopted April 25, 1938, be taken up at this time. Matter taken ender consideration. There being no further business the meeting then adjourned after which the Board immediately re- convened as a Municipal Delinquent Tax Adjustment Board,.
