082238MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, August 22 at 7:30 P M-19-J8 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall in the City of 6anford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. August 22,1938, but due to the lack of a quorum, immediately adjourned until 7:30 o'clock P.M. August 24, 1938- Mayor. Attest: Minutes of Adjourned Regular Meeting of City Commission. Aug.24,1939- The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned regular session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. August 24,1938. Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins , Mayor " Walter S. Coleman. " A.W.Lee " M. J. Lodge City Attorney Fred R. Wilson City Clerk, F.S. Lamson Chief of Police R.G.Williams Absent: Commissioner W.R. Dupree ( excused on account of sickness) Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Reading of minutes deferred. The Clerk then presented statement showing $4,923,000.00 in Series A Refunding bonds and $593,000.00 in Series B Refunding bonds outstanding, the interest coupons falling due on September 1, 1938, on the Series A Bonds amounting to $24,615.00 and the interest coupons on the Series B bonds amounting to #5,930.00. Thereupon Commissioner Lee moved that funds in the amount of $30,545.00 be forwarded to the Central Hanover Bank & Trust Co. New York City, in time to pay the interest coupons due September 1, 1938, on the Series A and Series B Refunding Bonds. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried. The Clerk next presented telegram from Barcus, Kindred & Co., Chicago, submitting quotation of 24 plus accrued interest on 16 Series.A Refunding Bonds. Thereupon , in view of the fact that sufficient funds are on hand for the purpose, Commissioner Coleman moved that the Clerk be authorized to purchase the aforesaid Series A Refunding Bonds, if still available, at the price of $240.00 per bond plus accrued interest. Seconded by Commissioner Lee and carried. Request next received from Paul G. Biggers to be allowed Homestead Exemption on Lot 87 Sanford Heights Addition for the year 1935, due to the fact that he was entitled to the exemption at that time but through an oversight failed to make . application therefor.
