091638[]I 1 1 1 I'' MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, September 16 7:30 P M-19__38 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P M. September 16, 1938 • Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor. " Walter S. Coleman " A.W.Lee „ M.J.Lodge City Clerk F.S. Lamson Absent: Commissioner W.R.Dupree ( excused on account of sickness.) Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Mr. F.A.Palmer followed by Mr. Herman Morris then discussed the proposed employ- ment of a Recreational Director as recommended by the Chamber of Commerce, urging, however, in place of using someone furnished by the Recreational Division of the Works Progress Administration, that Mr. W.R.McCracken,,physical director for the schools and trained in recreational activities, be employed for this work on a part time basis during the school term and on a full time basis during the summer months. Action deferred pending preparation of the budget. Meters E.F.Housholder, H.M.Watson and Roy Holler then appeared with reference to the Municipal Golf Course, urging that the WPA project heretofore presented be revived or else a new project be prepared covering the re- conditioning of this Course. Matter taken under consideration pending the preparation of the budget. Application next received from Pentland, Gray & Moore, Accountants and Auditors, for the regular annual audit of the City's books covering the fiscal year ending September 30, 1938, the agreement being, as in previous years, that the total cost of the audit will not exceed $600.00, and if any saving in time can be effected, the City will. receive the benefit df such saving. Thereupon Commissioner Coleman moved that Pentland, Gray & Moore be awarded the annual audit of the City's books covering the fiscal year ending September 30, 1938, in accordance with the terms of their application. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried. The Commission then proceeded to a study of the estimate of revenues and expenditures for the fiscal year 1938-1939, ad prepared by the City Clerk, action being deferred pending further consideration. The meeting then adjourned until 7:30 o'clock P.M. September 19th. 1938. Attest: City Clerk. Mayor.
