0921381 1 1 1 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, September 21,7:30 P M. 19 38 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. September 21st. 1938. Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor. " Walter S. Coleman n A.W.Lee " M.J.Lodge City Clerk F.S. Lamson Absent: Commissioner W.R.Dupree , (Exculed on account of sickness.) Meeting called to order by the Chairman. A delegation of gasoline strvice station operators and others located on Park Avenue then appeared protesting against the " Truck Route" sign suspended at the intersection of Seminole Boulevard and French Avenue, directing traffic south over French Avenue, claiming that this sign not only diverts truck traffic away from the business section but all other traffic as well, to the serious detriment of the regularly established business houses on Park Avenue. Thereupon, as it was not the intention in placing this sign to divert all traffic away from the business district but heavy truck traffic only, and in view of the contention of the delegation, sign ordered removed. Consideration next given to the question of fire insurance on City owned property, the present policies expiring as of September 30th. 1938• Thereupon the following schedule of fire insurance to be carried on City owned property, with the exception of the golf course club house, was adopted: Public Library $4,000.00 Library books & equipment 3,500.00 Hospital 52000.00 Hospital equipment 4,000.00 Nurse's home 1,000.00 New City Hall 15,000.00 City Hall contents 5,000.00 Main Grand Stand 2,000.00 Repairing garage 400.00 Repairing garage contents 500.00 Street sweeper garage 400.00 City truck garage 200.00 Chamber of Commerce building 1,000.00 Baseball dressing room 11000.00 Total 46,000.00 On motion duly adopted, this insurance was then ordered written for a five year term, the total premium.for the five years to be equal to four annual premiums if placed for a, year at a. time, thus effecting a saving of one year's premium, this premium. to be then paid in five annual installments with interest on the unpaid balance remaining from year to year. On motion duly adopted this insurance was then ordered divided equally among the six insurance agents heretofore participating in this schedule. On motion duly adopted, the fire insurance for a one year term on the golf course club house which is the time limit allowed on this risk, was ordered placed with J.C.Finnell as agent for the American Fire and Casualty Company, in amount of $2,000.00 Automobile and group life insurance policies were then ordered renewed with the same companies now carrying such insurance. On motion duly adopted the Commission next accepted the offer of Mrs Margaret Erickson to sell Certificate of Deposit No. 912, issued by the Central Hanover Bank 42 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, "SANFORD, FLORIDA, September 21 at 7:30 19.E P.M. and Trust Company for the City of Sanford Bondholders' Protective Committee, covering certificate of Indebtedness No 42, for $240.00 The Clerk was then instructed , immediately upon receipt of this Certificate of Deposit to surrender same to the Central Hanover Bank & Trust Company for the Series A Refunding Bond exchanged for this Certificate of Indebtedness at the time the bonds held by the Committee were refunded, cancelling this Refunding Bond imme- diately upon its receipt The Commission then proceeded to a l urther study of the estimate of revenues and expenditures for the year 1938 -1939, as prepared by the City Clerk, after which the meeting adjourned,.
