1222302g� MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, Dec. 22 at 7 :3O P 19 The City- Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Session at t '#e City Hall in Sanford, Florida, at 7 :30 O'Clock P.M. December 22, 1930. Present: Commissioner H.J.Lehman, Mayor. W.A.Leffler " R.A.Newman . " V.A.Speer " F.L.Woodruff. City Attorney, Fred R.Wilson City Clerk F.S.Lamson Chief of Police R.G.Williams Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of Regular meeting of December 8th. , Adjourned Meeting of December 12th. and Adjourned Meeting of.December 18th., 1930 read and approved. Former Commissioner Miller next appeared before the Commission and stated his in- ability to serve as Bond Trustee of the City of Sanford, Florida, thereby causing a vacancy to exist due to the resignation of Bond Trustee F,L.Woodruff. Mr. Miller also objected to the agreement with the Florida Power & Light Company whereby certain street lights were cut off in order to remain within the budget allowance for street lighting purposes. Report next read from City Attorney Wilson concerning A possible revision of the rates for electricity charged the citizens of Sanford, Florida by the Florida Power & Light Company, said report being presented in compliance with instructions from the Commissiom under date of November 10th. 1930. Mr. Fred T.Williams next reported on having obtained deeds to right of way for State Road No. 3 along the shore of Lake Monroe, f rom.Cloud Branch West to the Lake Monroe Bridge, and on motion of Commissioner Speer , seconded by Commissioner Newman and carried, the Clerk was ordered to have these deeds recorded. immediately. Mr. C.A.Byrd, Manager of the Florida Power & Light Company, next presented resolu- tion and agreement between the City of Sanford and the Florida Power & Light Company covering the discontinuance of certain overhead and whiteway lights, but in view of the fact that the form of agreement was unsatisfactory to the Commission, action was deferred until an adjourned meeting to be held on January 2, 1931. Complaint next received with reference to the installation of plumbing fixtures by the Gas Company, and upon motion duly adopted, instructions were issued that this practice must be discontinued. Mr. Fred T.Williams next reported the willingness of the Virginia Carolina Chemical Company to deed to the City that part of their property lying East of Cloud Branch between Fulton Street and Lake Monroe in exchange for the satisfaction of the bulkhead lien against their property in this location. Commissioner Speer moved that the City agree to cancel the bulkhead lien against the Virginia Carolina Chemical Company property lying East of Cloud Branch between First Street and Lake Monroe, in exchange for a deed to that part of this property lying between Fulton Street and the Lake. 11 11 11 1 1 7 IL 1 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, December 22 at 7:30 P 19-3CL Seconded by Commissioner Newman and carried by the following vote: Commissioner Lehman Nay " Leffler Aye " Newman Aye Speer Aye " Woodruff. Aye Commissioner Speer next moved that the name of the Forrest Lake Hotel be changed to the " Mayfair Hotel." Seconded by Commissioner Woodruff and carried. Bids were next opened for the purchase of one two horse heavy duty wagon: and one set of harness for the use of the Street Department as follows: Sanford Machine Company $149.10 Hill Hardware Company $132.02 Thereupon, Commissioner Speer moved that the purchase be made frozm the lowest bidder, the Hill Hardware Company. Seconded by Commissioner Woodruff and carried. Commissioner Speer next mcied that the following 1927 Personal Taxes be cancelled, due to over - assessment, as recommended by Deputy Tax Collector Tarbell. J.H.Tillis $14.77 E.A.Brotherson 7.g4 Seconded by Commissioner Newman and carried. Instructions were next issued to obtain bids for furnishing uniforms to the Fire and Police Departments. Report was next read from the City Attorney advising the Commission of the marketability of the title of the Hotel property formerly known as the Forrest Lake Hotel. The Clerk next reported to the Commission that Mr. John Meisch had accepted the appointment as a Bond Trustee of the City of Sanford, Florida and had given bond in the sum of $10,000.00 The meeting then adjourned to meet again at 7 :30 010lock P Attest: 2, 1931. 29�
