05053135fi MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, May 5v at 5 P M 1 19 31 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Called Session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at Five O'clock P.M. May 52 1931. Present: Commissioner T.L.Dumas, (Mayor) " W.A. Leffler " H J Lehman " V.A.Speer If 0.A.Byrd. City Attorney Fred R.Wilson City Clerk, F.S. Lamson Meeting called to order by the Chairman. The first business of the meeting was to consider a proposed Bill to be introduced at the present Session of the State Legislature, requiring the Refunding to Counties and Municipalities of motor vehicle license taxes collected. Commissioner Speer then moved that this Commission.disapprove the Bill as now prepared. Seconded by Commissioner Byrd and unanimously carried. Commissioner Leffler next offered the motion that the Commission go on record as approving this Bill if amended so as to more clearly define the highways and streets in the Counties and Cities, and that the Highways be designated as paved highways; also, that this Commission is in favor of a Bill that will return the license taxes collected to the countiO from which they originated. Seconded by Commissioner 1ehman and unanimously carried. Commissioner Leffler next moved that a committee be appointed to.gv to Tallahassee to meet with the Committee of the League of Municipalities. Seconded by Commissioner Byrd and unanimously carried. Thereupon Commissioner Lehman and City Attorney Wilson were appointed to serve on this Committee. Commissioner Speer next introduced Resolution No. 410 and moved its adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Leffler and carried by the following vote: Commissioner Dumas Aye " Leffler Aye " Lehman Aye " Speer Aye " Byrd Aye said Resolution No. 410 being in words and figures as follows: RESOLUTION NO. 410. WHEREAS, heretofore this Commission made a gratuitous offer of a site for the establishment by the United States Veterans' Bureau of a Veterans' Hospital and /or Home at Sanford, Florida, on property owned by the City bordering on Lake Monroe, and WHEREAS, since the submission of said gratuitous offer as incorporated in said Resolution, the matter of a site at Sanford, Florida, for said Hospital and Home has receive further consideration by this Commission, and WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable to make a further gratuitous offer to the United States Government of a site for a Home and Hospital to be located at Sanford, Florida, there fore, BE IT RESOLVED, that in addition to the gratuitous offer heretofore made by the City of Sanford, Florida, as expressed and set forth in Resolution No. 408, that this 00m-- s I'l 1 1 LJ �J 1 1 1 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, May 5 at 5 P M 19 31 mission, for and on behalf of the City of Sanford, Florida , and each and every of the inhabitants thereof, hereby further offers to gratuitously alienate and convey unto the United States of America , in fee simple, that certain property of the City of Sanford, 357 Florida, commonly known and designated as the "Municipal Golf Course" located about one mile beyond the City Limits of the City of Sanford, Florida, and about four miles from the center of the business district of the City of Sanford, Florida, containing approximately one Hundred Sixty (160 ) acres, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
