051331364 MINUTES CITY- COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, May 13. at S P.M. 191 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida, at 8 : 00 O'Clock P.H. May 13, 1931. Present: Commissioner T.L.Dumas, Mayor. it W.A.Leffler if H . J . Lehman it V.A.Speer It C.A.Byrd City Attorney Fred R.'Xilson City Clerk, F.S.Lamson Meeting called to order by the Chairman. The Chairman then announced that the Commission had met to dispose of the question of the operation and maintenance of the Municipal Golf Course during the ensuing year. Thereupon a general discussion ensued, everyone interested being requested to give their views on the subject. After a thorough consideration of the matter, Commissioner Leffler moved that if and when the paying members of the Sanford Golf Club number 250, then the City to contribute $2500.00 payable in monthly installments towards the upkeep and operation of the municipal golf course for the ensuing year from April 1st, 1931, subject to the ability of the City to pay; provided, however, that the existing lease with the Sanford Country Club, Inc., be amended so that it may be cancelled if and when the property is needed for the proposed Veterans Home; provided, further, that the dues shall be the same as during the year ending March 31, 1931, and that reports shall be rendered to the City Commission by the Sanford Country Club, Inc., quarterly or as requested, this resolution to supersede that adopted by the City Commission under date of April 14, 1930. Commission. Seconded by Commissioner Speer and carried by the unanimous vote of the City Commissioner Lehman next offered the motion that the Commission express to the Chamber of Commerce appreciation for the splendid work done by that Body for the Municipal Golf Course during the past year, and to solicit their wholehearted assistance in the drive which is now about to be put on for memberships for the coming year. Seconded by Commissioner Speer and unanimously carried. Commissioner Speer was next authorized to proceed to Washington D.C. to present offer to the Federal Hospitilization Board of approximately 124 acres of land adjoining the Hotel Mayfair, said land to be offered in addition to the Hotel Mayfair for the pro- posed Veterans Hospital.
