MINUTES
CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, June 22 at 7 :30 P M. 1931
The City Commission of the City of Sanf ord, Florida, met in Regular Session at the
City Hall in Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 O'Clock P.M. June 22, 1931.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Minutes of Regular Meeting of June 8th. 1931, read and approved.
Communication next read from Mrs Lois Wight requesting the privilege of leasing the
Yacht Club Building to be used as a reservation tea room.

Commissioner Leffler moved that the Yacht Club Building be leased to Mrs. Lois Wight
to be used for the above purpose, at a rental of $5.00 per month.
Seconded by Commissioner Byrd and carried over the dissenting vote of Commissioner
Lehman.
Representatives of the Sanford Gas Company next appeared with reference to the
request heretofore made that this Company be allowed to shut down the plant in Sanford
and supply this City with gas from Orlando, but no action was taken.
Communication next read from Linton E.Allen,President of the Sanford Atlantic
National Bank, agteeing to act as Depository for City of Sanford funds 'for the quarter
commencing July 1, 1931, under the same arrangement prevailing at present, with the except-
ion that the interest rate to be paid on deposits be reduced to 1 per cent.
Action was deferred until the next meeting of the Commission.
The Clerk next presented bids from Chase & Co. and the Florida McCracken Concrete
Pipe Co. for 200 ft of 24" sewer pipe, and on motion of Commissioner Speer, seconded by
Commissioner Lehman and carried, the order was awarded to Chase & Co. at a price of $1.56
per foot f.o.b.Sanford.
The CIrk next presented Atlantic National Bank of Jacksonville Depository Receipt
No. 1703, dated June 15, 1931, covering U.S. 3 -318% Treasury Bonds Nos. 8819/ 9484 / 9485
in amount of $30,000.00, said receipt being delivered by the Sanford Atlantic National
Bank as security for City of Sanford funds on deposit in said bank, and upon motion duly
adopted, said security was approved and accepted.
Offer next received from F.A.Wolfer and T. Bolly to lease City owned property described
as follows: Lots 2 and 4 and the south part of Lot 8 , Block X. St. Gertrude's Addition, for
a period of three years from July 1, 1931, at an annual rental of $500.00 worth of City of
Sanford bonds, the payment for the first year's rental to be $1410.00 in bonds.
Thereupon Commissioner Lehman moved that the offer be accepted and that the City Att
be instructed to draw up'-lease on this basis.
Seconded by Commissioner Speer and carried.
On motion of Commissioner Speer, seconded by Commissioner Byrd and carried, the Clerk
was next instructed to advertise for bids for painting the water plant stand pipe, and also
to order the necessary material to make repairs to the pipe line running from the wells to
the pumping station.

Mrs Helen Morse next appeared in connection with the need for assistance by the
Seminole County Welfare Board in handling various destitute families in the City.
Thereupon Commissioner Speer moved that Mrs Morse be authorized to send any worthy
needy men to Superintendent Moughton for employment for not exceeding three_days per week
at $1.00 per day, such expenditure to be chargeable to the Charity Account.
Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried.
Request next received from J.J.Tillis Jr., for permit to conduct series of summer
entertainment programs, one each week , in the City bandshell, and on motion duly adopted,
a thirty day trial permit was granted.
The meeting then adjourned to meet again at 8 O'Clock P.M. June 30, 1931.
