09303104 MINUTES, CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA,_ September 30 5,P Mig The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in Adjourned Session at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida at 5 O'Clock P.M: September 30, 1931. Present: Commissioner T.L.Dumas, Mayor. " W.A.Leffler " H.J.Lehman " C.A.Byrd. City Attorney, Fred R.Wilson City Clerk, F.S.Lamson Absent: Commissioner V.A.Speer Meeting called to order by the Chairman. On motion duly adopted, it was ordered that the present arrangement with City Attorney Filson whereby he is to handle all legal matters pertaining to the City at a salary of $250.00 per month, be continued until November 1, 1931. Commissioner Lehman next introduced Ordinance No. 198 entitled: ORDINANCE NO. 198 " AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING CERTAIN ANNUAL LICENSE TAXES UPON PERSONS, FIRMS AND CORhorations OPERATING CERTAIN DEVICES COMMONLY KNOWN AS " SLOT MACHINES" AND/OR " PUNCH BOARDS" IN CONNECTION WITH ANY OTHER BUSINESS OR OCCUPATION OF SUCH PERSONS, FIRMS OR COR PORATIO S IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SAID LICENSES AND THE PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE." and same was place on its first reading and read in full by the Clerk. Thereupon. Commissioner Lehman moved that the rules be waived and that said Ordinance No. 198 be placed on its final passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Byrd. Thereupon the question recurred upon the waivure of the rules. The roll was called and the vote stands as follows: Commissioner Dumas Aye " Leffler Aye it Lehman Aye If Byrd Aye Thereupon said Ordinance No. 198 was placed upon its final passage and adoption., the vote being as follows: Commissioner Dumas Aye Leffler Aye " Lehman Aye " Byrd Aye The Chairman then announced that the City -��ommission by unanimous vote had passed and adopted said ordinance No. 198 entitled: " A n Ordinance imposing certain annual license taxes upon persons, firms or Corporations operating certain devices commonly known as " Slot Machines" and/or " Punch Boards" in connection with any other business or occupation of such persons, firms or corporations in the City of Sanford, Florida, providini for the issuance of said license and the penalty for the violation of this ordinance. On motion duly adopted , it was then ordered that Ordinance No. 198 should be advertised in the Sanford Herald. The meeting then adjourned to meet again at 7:30 O'C1ock P.M October lst, 1931. Mayor.
