MINUTES September 24 CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, 7 *, 30 P M 19-30-- The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Adjourned Regular Session at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida, at 7 :30 O'Clock P.M. September 24, 1930. Present: Commissioner H.J.1ehman, Mayor " F.L.Miller " W.A. Leffler " R.A.Newman " P.A.Speer City Attorney, Fred. R.Wilson City Clerk, F. S . Lamson Meeting called to order by the Chairman. 1. 263, Application received from R.J.Reel for permit to erect frame sheet iron covered build- ing 4o x 100 feet at Fourth St. and Laurel Ave, for storage of automobiles, and on recommenda- tion of Commissioner Miller who investigated this matter, said permit was ordered granted. Commissioner Leffler next reported that the matter of the use of the old County Jail building on Palmetto Avenue between First and Second Streets by the Seminole County Y.M.C.A. as club rooms and also for storage of equipment for the proposed shuffleboard courts on the lot at Second St. and Palmetto Ave, had been investigated, that the building had been found to be suitable for the purposes intended, and that assurance had been obtained that the build- ing could be used for this purpose, although no definite permission could be obtained until the next meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. Commissioner Leffler then moved that the City appropriate $600.00 for the development of the City owned property on the corner of Second St. and Palmetto Ave. as a recreatioli, .oenter including the construction of shuffleboard courts. Seconded by Commissioner Miller and carried. The matter of the audit of the City's books for the year ending September 30,1930, was next brought to the attention of the Commission, and upon motion of Commissioner Miller, seconded by Commissioner Speer and carried, the firm of Pentland , Gray and Moore, was desig- nated to make this audit, the cost not to exceed $300.00 Permission was next granted the Security Lumber Company to erect a danger sign at the end of east First Street where it intersects Mellonville Avenue. Commissioner Miller next reported on the dilapidated condition of the stands at the Municipal Athletic Field. Thereupon, Commissioner Newman moved that the City appropriate #525.00 to be used to make the necessary repairs to the stands at the Athletic Field. Seconded by Commissioner Miller and carried. The condition of the Yacht Club Building next came tip for attention by the Commission, it appearing that no steps had been taken by the lessees to repair the damage to the building caused by the high waters of lake Monroe in June of the present year. After consideration of this matter, Commissioner Leffler made the motion that the City enter into possession of the Yacht Club Building and notify the lessees that the City has done soli on account of the failure of said lessees to make necessary repairs and to keep the place in a habitable condition. Seconded by Commissioner Miller and carried. Commissioner Speer next moved that the municipally owned radio, now stored in the City Hall, be loaned to the Sanford Golf Club for an indefinite period, subject to the pleas- ure of the City Commission. 264" MINUTES: CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, _ Sept • 2 7' 30 P MI 9 30 Seconded by Commissioner Newman and carried.
