ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION.
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Adjourned Sessiom
at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida at Two O'Clock P.M. January 7, 1930.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
The Clerk next announced that the incoming members of the Board for the three
year term beginning on this date to -wit: H J Lehman and Vivian A Speer, had signed
the oaths of office and acceptances as City Commissioners.
Thereupon. Commissioner Miller moved that the meeting adjourn, seconded by Com-
missioner Speer and unanimously adopted.
The meeting then adjou rned Sine Die.

ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION.
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Annual Meeting
at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida at Two — Thirty P M. January 7, 1930.

Commissioner Miller moved that Commissioner Speer be appointed temporary Chairman
of the meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Leffler and unanimously carried. Thereupon Com-
missioner Speer took the Chair.
The time had now arrived for the election of a Mayor for the ensuing year.
Commissioner Leffler nominated Commissioner Lehman.
Commissioner Lehman nominated Commissioner Leffler.
Commissioner Newman nominated Commissioner Miller.
Commissioner Speer then moved that nominations be closed. Seconded by Commissioner
Newman and so ordered.
Commissioner Newman then moved that the election be made by secret ballot.
Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and so ordered. Thereupon a secret ballot was
taken by the Clerk, the result being as follows:
For Commissioner Leffler 2
For Commissioner Lehman 2
For Commissioner Miller 1
Commissioner Leffler then announced his inability to serve in the capacity of Mayor
and requested permission to have his name with —drawn as a candidate.
A secret ballot was again taken, omitting the name of Commissioner Leffler, the
result being as follows:

Thereupon Commissioner Lehman signed the oath of office and acceptance as Mayor of
the City of Sanford, Florida, and took the Chair.
The next order of business was a request from Mrs John Leonardy that the Commission
grant permission to Silas Green Minstrels to show in Sanford for one day without having to
pay license, the proceeds of the performances on that day to be used entirely for charitable
purposes.
Commissioner Newman moved that the permit be granted provided that steps be taken to
insure that the proceeds of these performances will be used for no other but charitable pur-
poses. Seconded by Commissioner Speer and adopted by the following vote:

The Clerk next presented request from Mr R L Lockhart for permit to widen French
0e. abutting on his property located at Lot 5 Blk 9 Tier 9, Sanford, from the curb to the
sidewalk with concrete of standard specifications and to install gasoline pumps next to the
sidewalk on that portion of French Avenue so widened.
Commissioner Newman moved that this permit be granted. Seconded by Commissioner
Miller and unanimously carried.
The Clerk next presented recommendation of the Fire Chief and Building Inspector
with respect to disposition of unfinished apartment house building on the East side of
Park Avenue immediately adjacent to the home of Mr T L Dumas, said recommendation being
as follows:

We, the undersigned have inspected the unfinished building on Park Ave-
nue between Eight and Ninth Street and find it in very bad condition ( a regular fire

Commissioner Leffler moved that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up neces-
sary condemnation proceedings upon this property. Secondec7Commiss1oner Newman and adopted
by the following vote:

Clerk next presented bids received from Woodruff & Watson and S W Bradford for
uniforms for the Fire and Police Departments.
After consideration, the matter was referred to Commissioner Speer to confer
with the Fire and Police Chiefs with authority to accept the bid, which in their judgment
they consider to be the best, due consideration to be given to prices, quality of material
offered ar�d workmanship.
The Clerk next presented invoices from the Florida League of Municipalities cover-
ing dues for the year 1930•
Thereupon, it being theopinion of the Commission that the City should belong to this
organization., Commissioner Leffler moved that the invoice be approved and payment made.
Seconded by Commissioner Newman and adopted by the following votes:
