The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned
session at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida, at S O'Clock P -M- May 30, 1935
Present: Commissioner T.L.Dumas, Mayor.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman
Request received from Telephone Company for permit to trim trees to allow
passage of telephone line on south side of Thirteenth Street between French Ave. and
Holly Ave. to serve the State 11arket Exchange.
Matter referred to Commissioner Shinholser and inspector Paxton to investigate
and report.
Commissioner Speer next introduced Ordinance No. 240, entitled :

Thereupon Commissioner Leffler moved that the rules be waived and that said
Ordinance No. 240 be placed upon its final passage and adoption.
Seconded by Commissioner Shinholser.
Thereupon the question recurred upon the waivure of the rules. The roll was called
and the vote stands as follows:

On motion duly carried, Ordinance No. 240 was ordered posted at the front door
of the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida.
Commissioner Speer next introduced Ordinance No. 241 entitled:
AN ORDINANCE IMPOSIi1G AN ANNUAL LICENSE TAX UPON THE SALE OF GOODS, HARES OR
MERCHANDISE, EXCEPT CERTAIN FARM PRODUCTS, FROM MOTOR VEHICLES; PROVIDING FOR THE
ISSUANCE OF SAID LICENSE A.TD A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
and same was placed on its first reading and read in full by the Clerk.

Thereupon the Chairman announced that the City Commission of the City of
Sanford, Florida , by unanimous vote, had passed and adopted said Ordinance No. 241, entit-
led:
AN ORDIT'rANCE IMPOSING AN ANNUAL LICENSE TAX UPON THE SALE OF GOODS, MARES OR
MERCHANDISE, EXCEPT CERTAIN FARM PRODUCTS, FROM MOTOR VEHICLES; PROVIDING FOR THE
ISSUANCE OF'SAID LICENSE AND A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
On motion duly adopted Ordinance No. 241 was ordered POSTED at the front door
of the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida.
Consideration next given to the application of Mr. Harry Bra.dham for license
to sell intoxicating liquor, and upon his assurance that partition in the rear which
is contrary to the provisions of the ordinance will be removed at once, application
approved and license ordered issued.
The Chairman next appointed Commissioners Lehrman and Speer as a. Committee to
meet with the County Commission at 2 P 14 June 3rd., for the purpose of discussing the
handling of emergency medical cases.
City Attorney Wilson next reported that on the appeal taken from the
decision of Circuit Judge Iviillard B.Smith, the Supreme Court had ruled that the
brought
sheriff's sale under execution /by Augustus T.Ashton on various parcels of City owned
property to satisfy judgment against the City covering 17 past due bonds with interest,
should be held but had ordered that no deeds should be given to purchasers until
CD
decision has been handed upon the appeal.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
