032535MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, March 25 at 7:30 P M 19-3-5 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 7:30 O'Clock P.M. March 25, 1935• Present: Commissioner T.L.Dumas, Mayor. " W.A.Leffler " H.J.Lehman " S.O.Shinholser " V.A.Speer City Attorney Fred R.Wilson City Clerk F.S.Lamson Chief of Police R.G.Williams Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Delegation of West Side Residents and Property Owners, headed by Mr. John Meisch next appeared with further reference to their petition that certain farm property on the West side be excluded from the City limits. Thereupon Commissioner Shinholser moved that the Commission concur in the request for the elimination of certain property from the City limits, feeling that the City is not in position to confer benefits on the property proposed to be excluded, and that the City of Sanford Bondholders' Protective Committee be respectfully requested to give their consent. Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried. Further discussion was then given to this matter, after which action on the foregoing motion was ordered held in abeyance pending an inspection of the property proposed to be eliminated from the City limits. Protest next received from Mr. O'Steen , representing theFlorida Motor Lines, to instructions issued by the Commission that Bus Lines provide terminal facilities off the City Streets. No action. The Commission next proceeded to consider any bids received for painting the water tank at the City Pumping Station. In view of.the fact that only one bid was received however, Commissioner Lehman moved that all bids be returned unopened and that the work be re- advertised for. Seconded by Commissioner Shinholser and carried. Minutes of Regular meeting of March 11th, 1935, read and approved. The Commission was next advised of plans being perfected by the Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the D.A.R. to erect a marker commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of the founding of Rollins College in Winter Park, it being proposed to place the marker on City property adjacent to the Municipal Zoo. Thereupon permission was granted for the erection of the proposed marker on City property at either the N.W. or S.W. corner of Park Avenue and Water Street. On motion of Commissioner Lehman, seconded by Commissioner Leffler and carried, the Commission next agreed to pay $10.00 towards the cost of construction of the aforesaid marker. LJ fl MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, March 25 at 7:30 P M —19 35 In accordance with instruction previously given, City Attorney Wilson next presented formal agreement to transfer of lease given Winn & Lovett Grocery Company on certain property located on Seminole Boulevard adjacent to that of Mary B.H.Herring , to the Suwannee Steamship Company, and on motion of Commissioner Leffler, seconded by Commissioner Speer and carried, same was approved and ordered executed. In accordance with instructions previously given, City Attorney Wilson next presented formal extension of lease given the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce to the building known as the Sanford Yacht Club Building, for an additional period of five years, and on motion of Commissioner Speer, seconded by Commissioner Shin - holser and carried same was approved and ordered executed. Resolution next read from the Seminole County Agricultural Association protesting against the levying of an occupational license tax against those buying and selling at the Farmers Market Exchange, and same was taken under consideration. On motion of Commissioner Leffler, seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried , the Commission next approved the sale of the following described property acquired through foreclosure of tax liens to Hannah Richardson, the former owner, at a price of $74.99, $30.40 being payable with City of Sanford. bonds, it appearing that partial payments had been made for this purpose prior to the rescinding of the authorization to sell foreclosed property for the City's equity therein: E. 60 ft of the W. 112 of Lot 5 Robinsons' Survey. Applications next received for license to sell beer from H.Nelson & F. Dindal at 210 Sanford Ave. and Will Alexander 1219 W. 13th St. , and on motion of Commissioner Speer , seconded by Commissioner Leffler and carried, same were approved. On motion duly carried, the Commission next approved payment of the follow- ing amounts from funds applicable therefor: To DeCottes & Boggs, to apply on Judgment $911.00 To Keefe, et al, to apply on judgment 6820.00 To United Mutual Life Insurance Co. to apply on Judgment 112.00 The Clerk next presented prices and samples received from W.E.Watson and S.M.Bradford for furnishing, uniforms for the police and fire departments, and same were referred to a committee composed of Commissioner Speer,the City Clerk and chiefs of the fire and police departments for recommendation.
