The Chairman then announced that the purpose of the meeting was to obtain further information to guide the Commission in acting upon the request of the Seminole County Home Demonstration and Agricultural Fair Association.Inc. for permit for the Krause Better Shows to make Sanford as a part of the Seminole County Home Demonstration and Agricultural Fair on February 12th to 16th. and the claim that under the State law, such shows will not be subject to the customary license tax. The Chairman sloo announced that the President of the various women's organizations sponsoring the Fair had been requested to be present to assist in obtaining this informati Thereupon Mrs. W.L.Cooper , President of the Sanford Woman's Club, Mrs A.M.Philips Financial Secretary of the Sanford Woman's Club, firs. J. G. Leonardy, President of the Seminole County Federation of Woman's Clubs, Mrs May Sheaf er, President of the Spanish American War Auxiliary, Mrs. W. I. Hugh.by, President of the WCTU and Mrs. Roy Tillis., President of the Elks Auxiliary mace statement to the effect that it is to be a bona fide Fair, that the Krause Better Shows are leased outright and are consequent- ly the property of the Fair Association during the week of the Fair, and that all net proceeds will be -used only as the law allows.. After further discussion, Commissioner Lehman moved that a permit be granted this Corporation under its corporate name to hold a Seminole County Home Demonstration and Agricultural Fair, with such exhibits as they may see fit, in the City Limits of Sanford on February 12th to 16th. incl. 1935• Seconded by Commissioner Speer and carried? Commissioner Leffler voting Nay. Commissioner Speer next moved that evidence having been submitted of .the good intention to conduct a Fair under the auspices of the Sanford Woman's Club-and the Seminole County Federation of Women's Clubs, and a permit having been granted therefor, that the Commission waive the requirement of a license fee for the shows, in accordance with the terms of a recent ruling of the State Supreme-Court applicable thereto. Seconded by Commissioner Shinholser and c arriedt Commissioner Leffler voting Nay. The Clerk next reported final note held by the Central Foundry Company due February 1st, 1935, amounting to $1017.00 principal and $305.10 interest, and on. motion of Commissioner Speer, seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried, same was ordered paid.
