CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, January 18, at 7:30 P A9 35
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in adjourned. regular
session at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida at 7:30 O'Clock P.M. January 18, 1935.
Present: Commissioner T.L.Dumas, Mayor.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Mr. John Meisch, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, and Doctors
Puleston and Langley, appeared in connection with efforts to obtain PWA funds for the
renovation and enlargement of theFerneld- Laughton Memorial Hospital, and were assured
the fullest cooperation of the City Commission in their efforts to obtain the necessary
funds for this much needed improvement.
The Commission next proceeded to a careful study of a proposed Ordinance
regulating and licensing the sale of intoxicating liquors within the City of Sanford,
Florida, final action being deferred pending further consideration at an adjourned meet-
inn to be held on Tuesday, January 22nd.
In connection with the construction of State Road No. 3 along the Lake Shore
it was next brought to the attention of the Commission that the plans contemplate the
paving of this road a width of thirty feet from Myrtle Avenue West to Cloud Branch, and 2
width of twenty -two feet from Cloud Branch West to the junction of the old road at Lake
Monroe.
Thereupon Commissioner Speer moved that a. petition be sent to Chairman Treadway
of the State Road Department, urging that due to the inadequacy of the twenty -two foot
pavement to handle the amount of traffic to use this road, thereby resulting in a pos-
sible loss of life, and before the top surface has been placed on the road, that the
plans be revised so as to increase the proposed width of the paving ''"est of Cloud Branch,
from twenty -two to thirty feet.
Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried.
Thereupon the Clerk was instructed to prepare such a petition to be sent to
Chairman Treadway of the State Road Department, and that copies be furnished to the
Chamber of Commerce and Board of County Commissioners for their endorsement.
The meetin then adjourned to meet agzin at 7:30 O'Clock P.M. Tuesday,
January 22nd. 1935•
