Sara Jacobson, Antique Mall, was present and submitted an
Application for Certificate of Appropriateness to change the
lettering on the existing sign at 311 East First Street.
Discussion was held regarding the existing sign not meeting the
sign criteria in the Land Development Regulations. The general
design criteria states "Signs shall not exceed 30" in height ". Ms.
Jacobson proposed, for economic purposes, changing the existing
sign to meet the requirements after the business was stabilized.
It was recommended that she consider a hanging sign for under the
canopy.
Cal Conklin moved to approve the Application for Certificate of
Appropriateness as proposed for a period of one year, at that time
the sign will be replaced with one that meets the criteria. He
further moved to approve to allow a hanging sign of the same
general design under the canopy at 311 East First Street. The
hanging sign will need approval by the secretary to assure it meets
the hanging sign requirements. Seconded by Altermese Bentley and
carried by unanimous vote
