M I N U T E S HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD SPECIAL MEETING January 19, 1993 First Street Gallery 203 East First Street Sanford, Florida 4:30 P.M. Members Present: Monte Olinger, Chairman Jerry Mills Kay Bartholomew Laura Straehla Cal Conklin Kevin Stubbs Chris Cranias Members Absent: Altermese Bentley Hal Welch Bess Simons 011ie Williams Others in Attendance: Penny Turner, Secretary The Meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Monte Olinger at 4:45 P.M. Peter Schreyer, of Creadle School of Arts, was present and submitted for the Board's review samples of his work. Mr. Schreyer and his students are doing a documentary photography project on Sanford. The resulting exhibit will be at the First Street Gallery March 5, 1993. It was requested that the Board consider contributing $300 towards printing a brochure which will index the documentary photography project and also provide the Board access to the photographs. Discussion was held regarding the purpose of the Board's Ordinance. The purpose is to promote the educational, cultural, and economic welfare of the public of the City by preserving and <protecting historic structures, sites, monuments, streets, areas and neighborhoods which serve as visible reminders of the history and cultural heritage of the City. Laura Straehla moved to recommend to the City Commission for their - consideration to approve a contribution of $300 from the Historic Preservation Board's FY 92/93 Budget to be donated to Peter Schreyer, Creadle School of Arts, for printing of the brochure indexing the documentary photography project on Sanford, with the stipulation that the photographs be available, not including printing cost, for the Board's access. Seconded by Kay Bartholomew. Under discussion it was recommended that the brochure list a credit as to where the funds were donated. Motion was carried by unanimous vote. Mr. Olinger stated he will prepare a statement for the brochure indicating where the funds were donated from. There being no further business before the board, the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 P.M.
