The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, not in regular
session at the City Sall in.Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 P.Y. June 259 1934.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Minutes of Regular Meeting of June 11th, adjourned meeting of June 13th.
adjourned meeting of June 18th and- adjourned meeting of June 20, 1934 read and
approved.
Communioation read from Otto Caldwell, Agent of the 8t. Johns River Line
Company, making application to lease from the City for a long term of *ears, a
frontage of seventy -five feet along the bulkhead and extending from the western
edge of their present docks this space to be utilized in enlarging their ware-
house and docking facilities.
After consideration, matter held over until next regular meeting, the Cleric
in the meantime to refer the application to the City Planning,00mmission for reoom-
mendation. .
Attorney L.F.Boyle next reported that the north portion of a concrete
block building located upon the east 77.25 ft. of Lot 1 of Block li of Tier A, Sanford
Florida, projects one ( 1) foot into linth Street, and that in order for the owner
of this property to obtain a Government Home Loan with which to pay his taxes, it
will be necessary that the City vacate this one foot strip in order that title
to the property may be olear.
Thereupon, in view of the fact that the building in question has occupied
this location for a considerable number of years and that the abandonment of the
one foot strip will have no detrimental effect, Commissioner Dumas introduced
Ordinance No. 229 entitled:

Thereupon the Chairmen announced that the City Oommission, by unanimous vote,
had and adopted said Ordinance No. 229, entitled:
11 An Ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida, vacating the portion of
Ninth Street in this Ordinance described and occupied by the building now located
on the Sast. Seventy -Seven and ftenty -Five Hundredths Feet of Lot Cho of Block Zleven
of Tier "A" of Sanford, Florida, according to Z.R.Trafford's Map thereof, of record
in the public records of Seminole County, Florida, in Map Book One , Pages 56-64"
On motion duly adopted, Ordinance No. 229 was then ordered POSTZD at the
front door of the City Hall In the City of Sanford, Florida.
In accordance with the terms of the Charter, the Clerk nest presented tenta-
tive budget of revenues and expenditures for the fiscal year 1934 -19359 and sake was
taken under consideration.

Estimate next presented showing the cost of materials necessary to re-
pair and repaint the City Hall to be X706.00, the labor for this project to be
furnished by the FZRA. Also, that if the City desirea. repairing and repainting the
band shell oan be included in the projeot at a little extra expense for materials.
Thereupon Commissioner Lehman moved that the City appropriate $900.00 to cost
of materials for repairing and repainting the City Hall and Band Shell, the labor
for this project to be furnished by the FZRA.
Seconded by Commissioner Dumas and carried.
Commissioner Speer next moved that permission be granted the FERN to construct
an aquarium on City property under the project submitted by the Seminole County
Ohamber of Commerce for improvement and enlargement of the Sanford Municipal Zoo, with the
understanding that the City will not be obligated for any of the expenses incurred.
Seconded by Oommissioner Lehman and carried unanimously.
Communication next read from Attorney General Cary D.Landis, thanking the Com-
missioner for their expressions of sympathy on the recent death of his son William.
Application next made by A.B.Peterson, represe0ing� the Seminole County Sentinel,
for a portion of the City's legal advertising , and same was taken under consideration.
The Commission next proceeded to a consideration of a proposed agreement pre-
pared by the Florida Power A Light Company, under the terms of which approximately 50%
more street lights are to be lighted at no additional cost to the City.
Action deferred pending clarification of certain clauses in the proposed
agreement, the City Attorney be instructed to handle with the Florida Power d Light
Co.
Commissioner Lehman next introduced Ordinance No. 230, entitled:

noRiDA, RELATING TO CONTAGIOUS DISEASES AND TO PROVIDE A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF.
and same was placed upon its first reading and read in fall by the Clerk.
Thereupon Commissioner Lehman moved that the rules be waived and said Ordinance
No. 230 be placed upon its final passage and adoption.
Seconded by Commissioner Dumas.
Thereupon the question recurred upon the waivure of the rules, the roll was
called and vote stands as follows:

Commissioner Lehman next moved that Ordinance No. 230 be published in the
Sanford Herald.

Estimate next presented showing the cost of laying six inch water main
In the alley between park Avenue and Magnolia Avenue from Third Street to Sixth
Street, together with the installation of five new fire hydrants, to be approxi-
mately $1000.00
Thereupon: Oommissioner Speer moved that for purposes of better fire Pro-
$anti= the laying of the water main and installation of the fire hydrants as out-
lined be approved.
Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried..
Commissioner Speer next moved that City Attorney Nilson be authorized to
defend the case before the Supreme Court in which.the status of City owned p ;eperty
acquired through foreclosure of tax liens is to be determined in so far as judgments
against the City are concerned, and that the Clerk be instructed to voucher
necessary expenses in connection therewith.
Seconded by Commissioner Dumas and carried.
The Commission nest authorized the expenditure of $125.00 for materials
necessary to repair the City Incinerator, the labor required to be furnished by
the 'ERA.
The meeting then adjourned to meet again at 7:30 0101ook P M. July 20 1934
at which time the Commission will.sit as an Equalization Board to receive the
1934 tax assessment roll and to hear any complaints or objections as to listing,
valuation, or otherwise on said roll.
