0423341 LJ LJ 1 7 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, April 23, 7:30 P M -19--14 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida , met in Regular Session at the City Hall in Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 O'Clock P.M. April 23, 1934. Present: Commissioner T.L.Dumas If H.J.Lehma.n " V.A.Speer " S.O.Shinholser. City Attorney Fred R.Wilson City Clerk, F.S.Lamson Chief of Police, R. G. Williams Absent: Commissioner W.A.Leffler, Mayor. In the absence of the Mayor, and at his request, Commissioner Shinholser took the Chair. keeting called to order by the Chairman. Request received from W.H.Reitz, representing American Oil Company, for permit to lower curb and construct concrete driveways from street paving line to property line, at southwest corner of Park Avenue and Commercial Street, it being the intention to construct gasoline service station at this location. Thereupon Commissioner Speer moved that the permit be granted. Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried. Communication next read from Ernest A Londenberg, offering to deliver two City of 5anf ord bonds as rental for the farm land described as Lots 2 and 4 and south part of Lot 8 Block X, St. Gertrude's Addition, for one year from July 1, 1934 to July 1, 1935. Commissioner Speer moved that in consideration of Mr. Londenberg's statement that he is going to relay the tile now in need of repair, and take out the bermuda grass, that his offer be accepted . Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried. Mr. R.B.Wight next appeared with further reference to a lease to the property facing on Lake Monroe and lying immediately east of that owned by Mary B.H. Herring. Thereupon City Attorney Wilson presented lease for this property prepared in accordance with instructions issued at the Special called meeting of April 18th. After considerable study and discussion of the matter, Cors�missioner Speer moved that the leases prepared be tentatively approved, subject to acceptance by the City of plans and specifications. Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried. Minutes of regular meeting of April 9th and special called meeting of April 18th, 1934 read and approved. The Clerk next reported receipt from the Central Florida Transportation Company of check for $300.00, being amount estimated by Superintendent Moughton and Engineer Fred T.Williams as being necessary to repair damage caused by trucks handling freight over the Municipal Pier. The Commission was next advised that the Sanford Atlantic national Bank had requested the return of Security totalling X35,000.00 as evidenced by Atlantic National Bank of Jacksonville Depository Receipts Nos. A -292, A -264 and A -2061, 253 254 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, April 23 at 7:30 P M _19___34 and had submitted in lieu thereof Atlantic National Bank of Jacksonville Depository Receipt No. A-339, covering 3 — $10,000.00 3 118A Treasury Bonds of 1946 -1949, Nos 17596 F 17591 H 17595 J, Dated June 15, 1931, Due June 15, 1949. Upon being advised that all City deposits in the Sanford Atlantic National Bank will still be fully secured, Commissioner Lehman moved that the request for exchange of security be granted. Seconded by Commissioner Dumas and carried. Commissioner Lehman next moved that the Clerk be instructed to purchase from Dofnos Corporation with funds applicable thereto, bonds Nos 406/450 and 566/570 Series Improvement dated July 1, 1922, Due July 1, 1952, Interest 52A with Jan 1, 1932 and subsequent coupons attached, at a price of $150.00 flat, each, these bonds having been offered to the City at this pricey Seconded by Commissioner Dumas and carried. On motion duly carried, the local Ohapter D.A.R. was next granted permission to place a. historical marker at the site of Fort Reed, this site being in the parkway on the Nest Side of Mellonville Avenue across from Lot 11 Block 5 Bel —Air, provided the owner of the adjacent property waives objections. Objection next received to the discontinuance of the overhead Street Light at the corner of Eighth Street and French Ave. and that at Twenty— fourth Street and Oak Avenue. Matter referred to Commissioner Speer with a view to having two other lights transferred to these locations if available. Commissioner Lehman next moved that Mrs J M Brady, whose husband died in 1924, be granted a widow's exemption for the year 1933, and that $15.00 of the 1933 taxes against Lot 9 Block 13 Tier 3 , owned by Mrs Brady, be accordingly canceled. Seconded by Commissioner Dumas and carried. City Attorney 71ilson next reported that the complaint of J 17 Snow to the use of the parkway adjacent to his lot in Lake View Cemetery for burying purposes had been satisfactorily adjusted and the body removed. Record wa.s next made of the entering of the City in the Third Aniva.l National Traffic Safety Contest, 1934, with Karl Lehman designated to handle communications relating to educational items and Chief of Police R.G.Williams to handle communi- cations relating to engineering and enforcement.
