Williams. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of Regular meeting of May 14th. 1934, read and approved. Commissioner Dumas next introduced Resolution No. 455 and moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Lehman and carried by the following vote of the Commission: Commissioner Leffler Aye ++ Dumas Aye " Lehman Aye ++ Speer Aye +' Shinholser Aye Said resolution No. 455 being in words and figures as follows: RESOLUTION No. 455 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY CCUMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA , PROVIDING FOR THE CANCELLATION BY PERFORATION OF CERTAIN BONDS OF SAID CITY OF SANFORD NOW HELD BY IT AND IN THIS RESOLUTION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED. WHEREAS, the City of Sanford, Florida, now has in its possession certain bonds of said City of Sanford which have been received by said City in payment of certain special assessments made by the City of Sanford, and certain bonds of said City of Sanford purchased by said City from collections of delinquent taxes, which said bonds are listed as follows , to -wit: BONDS RECEIVED BY CITY IN PAYMENT OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS. Thereupon the bonds enumerated in said resolution No. 455 were canceled by perforation in the presence of the Commission. The Clerk was next instructed to cancel by perforation as soon as received all bonds delivered to the City in payment of taxes or special assessment or acquired by purchase, confirming said action be resolution of the City Commission at regular intervals. On motion duly carried, the Commission next appropriated and ordered payment to the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce the sum of $308.25 , to be used for the encouragement of new industries. Communication next read from the Seminole County Medical Society endorsing the provisions of Section 344, Revised Ordinances, entitled " Physicians to Report Dangerous Diseases," recommending a time limit of twenty —four hours within which to make such reports, and recommending lengths of time for quarantining the various communicable diseases. Thereupon City Attorney Wilson was instructed to prepare ordinance for considera- tion at the re xt regular meeting, more strictly regulating the quarantining of communi- cable diseases and carrying with it a. penalty for violation of not exceeding $100.00 or not exceeding 30 days in jail. The Clerk next presented Atlantic National Bank of Jacksonville Depository Receipt No. A376, dated May 21, 1934, covering three $10,000.00 U.S.Trea.sury notes Series 0-1938 Nos 6209 -6211 Incl. Due March 15, 1938, said Depository Receipt having been delivered to the City by the Sanford Atlantic National Bank in exchange fcr depository receipt No. A -339, dated Apr 11, 1934, covering three $10,000.00 Treasury Bonds of 1946 -1949, heretofore furnished the City as security for funds on deposit in said bank. Thereupon Commissioner Lehman moved that the exchange of security as requested be approved. Seconded by Commissioner Dumas and carried. In connection with the Wilcox Municipal Bankruptcy Bill recently signed by the President, City Attorney Wilson was next instructed to secure copies of this bill in order that the City may proceed intelligently in the consideration of the steps necessary to secure a readjustment of the bonded debt under the provisions of this Bill. City Attorney Filson was next requested tolfurnish an estimate of the cost of completing foreclosure on the balance of the outstanding tax certificates for taxes of the year 1926. [1 i �I 1 1 .�65 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, May 28 at 7:30.P M _19 34 Mr. Lee Ransbottom next appeared on behalf of Lewis Roberts sentenced in the Municipal Court under date of Iay 21st to a total of $60.00 or 120 days imprisonment, on charges of drunkenness, disorderly conduct, threats and carrying concealed weapons. After consideration of the case and on recommendation of Municipal Judge Wilkinson one -half of the fine was ordered suspended upon payment of the balance by Mr. Ransbottom. Signed agreement of Albert Hall to vacate and remove the building located on lots 1,2 and 3 of Block 2 Chapman & Tucker's Addition, on or before August 1st. next presented and approved. Request next received from Mrs.G.A.Radford for permit to remove three elm trees from in front of her residence on French Avenue and replace with good sized palms. Request approved. Instructions next issued to notify the Florida Power & Light Co. of the unsatisfactory service rendered during just an ordinary high wind and request that this condition be remedied. Commissioner Lehman next moved the payment of the 1931 State Taxeg ag61 nst the Mayfair Hotel property totalling $244.40. Seconded by Commissioner Speer and carried. Request next received from the FERA officials for permission to use the office room in the City Hall formerly occupied by the Chamber of Commerce. Permission granted. Consideration was next given to the complaint of the owners of the Milane Theater building to drainage conditions arising as a result of the replacement of the sewer in the rear of this property , a CWA project. Commissioner Lehman then moved that the City furnish sufficient drain tile to correct this condition, provided the FERA furnish the.labor - necessary , and provided that the work be done without any responsibility on the part of the City. Seconded by Commissioner Shinholser and carried. The same proposition was next made with reference to the complaint of the operator of the Montezuma Hotel to a similar condition. With reference to that part of the license ordinance entitled " Advertising, circulars and handbills," the Commission next construed this section to apply to those in the business of distributing circulars and /or handbills, and not established merchants who are merely advertising their wares in this manner and with their own. help.
