The Meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Monte Olinger, at
4:35 P.M.
The Board recognized Mrs. Bartholomew's, Mr. Cranias', and Mrs.
Simons' absence as excused.
Jerry Mills nominated Kevin Stubbs as Chairman of the Board.
Altermese Bentley moved to close the nomination and approve Kevin
Stubbs as Chairman of the Board. Seconded by Jerry Mills and
carried by unanimous vote.
Altermese Bentley nominated 011ie Williams as Vice Chairman of the
Board. Jerry Mills moved to close the nomination and approve 011ie
Williams as Vice Chairman of the Board. Seconded by Cal Conklin
and carried by unanimous vote.
Harvey Butler and Florance Stone, with Advanced Canvas, were
present and submitted an Application for Certificate of
Appropriateness to recover the existing awning frame on the
building at 222 South Magnolia Avenue. The colors as well as the
print design is the company's logo.
Jerry Mills moved to approve the Application for Certificate of
Appropriateness to recover the existing awning frame on the
building at 222 South Magnolia Avenue. The awning will be striped
with 16" to 18" white stripes and 4 magenta stripes. He further
approved raising the center of the awning frame on the corner to
coincide with design as submitted on business card. Motion was
seconded by 011ie Williams and carried by unanimous vote.

Kevin Stubbs moved to approve the window signs as presented with
the flexibility to add color only to the awning design, leaving the
letters white and to add Fabrication & Design to the signs on the
building at 222 South Magnolia Avenue. Seconded by Jerry Mills and
carried by unanimous vote.
Sara Jacobson, with The Antique Company, submitted (via certified
mail) an Application for Certificate of Appropriateness to attach
a wall sign to the building at 311 East First Street.
Jerry Mills moved to table the Application for Certificate of
Appropriateness to attach a wall sign to the building at 311 East
First Street due to the lack of supporting documentation. It was
requested that Ms. Jacobson be contacted and requested to submit a
drawing of the sign, the type of material to be used and a
photograph. Seconded by Kevin Stubbs and carried by unanimous
vote.
Mark Morgan, with Sign Production, was present and submitted a
change to the Application for Certificate of Appropriateness to
attach a wall sign, with 1 foam letters, to the building at 205
North Palmetto Avenue. The original application was approved at
the October 21, 1993, Meeting.
Jerry Mills moved to accept the change on the Application for
Certificate of Appropriateness to attach a wall sign, with 1" foam
letters, to the building at 205 North Palmetto Avenue, which was
approved at the October 21, 1993, Meeting. The approved change was
that the sign will read Steltenkamp Realty with length not greater
than 22' X 6 ". Motion was seconded by Kevin Stubbs and carried by
unanimous vote.
The discussion regarding the Walking Tour Brochures was tabled
until the December 2, 1993, Meeting.
Under other business, Mr. Stubbs informed the Board that the City
Commission has requested a Work Shop to go over the Old Sanford
Regulations item by item. The Work Shop is scheduled for November
8, 1993. Mr. Stubbs stated that the length of process for review
of an application is a concern that has been expressed since the
Board only meets once a month. The Board requested Mr. Stubbs, as
Chairman of the Historic Preservation Board, to convey the Board's
willingness to meet more often, every two weeks, and call for
special meetings if needed.
Jerry Mills made a motion to adjourn the Meeting. Seconded by
Kevin Stubbs and carried by unanimous vote.
There being no further business before the Board, the Meeting was
adjourned at 5:20 P.M.
