Meeting called to order at 8 P.M. by Mayor, C E Henry.
]Present, C.E.j,enrg, Mayor, S.O.Chase and Forrest lake,Commissioners, ? J Ryan
City Manager, G G Herring, City Attorney.
Minutes of last Regular and Annual Meeting of the Commission were read and ap-
proved.
On motion Forrest ►ake,seoonded by S 0 Chase and passed unanimously by the.Com-
mission$1,000.00 Ras - appropriated for the Sanford City Band.
Mr H C Haskins presented a bill for Band expenses amounting to $675.80, on mo-
tion duly passed the Auditor & Clerk was authorized to draw check to pay same from
publicity fund, charging half the amount to the Chamber of Commerce and halt to the
Sanford. City Band.
Communication from Mr. A P Connelly Re: sidewalk on Lot 1 Blk 3 Tr. 1 read and.,
Auditor & Clerk instructed to reply to same.
Communication from City Engineer re plat of Lane's proposed addition to 6anford
read and the Auditor & Clerk instructed to send copy of sax a to Mr Lane, suggest-
ing that the plat be made to conform to the Engineer's requirements.
It was moved by Forrest Lake, and seconded by S 0 Chase and passed by unani-
mous vote of the City Commission that hereafter the City of Sanford will pay for
such medicines as may be prescribed by the City Pltysioian for indigent patients
within the city limits but that the City will bear no part of burial expenses of
..paupers dying either within or without the City limits$ deeming this to be strictly
a County obligation.

Dr R E Stevens presented bill for $25.00 covering Special Clinic for December
1921 and the Additor & Clerk was authorised to pay same and to write Dr. Stevens
that no further bills for this work will be paid until further notice.
The following ordinance was placed on its first reading*
Ordinance #27
An Ordinance to encourage the planting of trees on the streets and avenues in
the City of Sanford, Florida, prescribing the kind of trees to be planted and
the distance between the trees, the distance of trees from sidewalk,providing for
the payment of $1.00 per tree by the City of Sanford where trees are planted of
a kind specified and in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance.
And providing a penalty for defacing or otherwise injuring any shade tree on
any park, street or avenue.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD FLORIDA.
SECTION 1 That for each tree planted of the kind hereinafter specified, and ac-
cording to the regulations hereinafter set forth the City of Sanford will pay to
the property owners planting such tree or trees the sum of $1.00 for each tree
planted.
SECTION 2 That the trees provided for in the above and foregoing section shall b e
of the following kinds only, namely;
Live oak, Water Oak ' Camphor, Red Cedar , Elmq Palm , Maple, Magnolia.+ Bay, Holly,
and Australian Pine.
SECTION 3.That the said trees shall be planted not closer together than thirty -five
feet; that they shall be planted not less than five feet from any sidewalk, and
shall be planted the following distance from.the center of the street according
to the width of the street, namely: on eighty -two foot street or avenue, twenty -
Seven feet from the center of said street or avenue. ; on seventy foot street or
avenue, twenty -two feet from the center of said street or avenue; on sisty -six
'oot street or avenue, twenty feet from the center of said street or avenue;
in sixty foot street or avenue, nineteen feet from the center of said street or
avenue.
SECTION 4 That it shall be unlawful for anyone to deface, damage, or in any way
.njure any tree or trees planted under the provisions of this ordinance, or other -
rise planted, between the-sidewalk and the street curbing, or in any park within
he City of Sanford,; and that anyone found guilty of the violation of this section
f this ordinance shall be fined for each offence, not more than $50.00 or impris-
nment for a period of not more than Sixty days.

All Ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of thin
ordinance are hereby repealed,
Passed by the unanimous vote of the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida
