Meeting called to order at 8 P.M. by Mayor C.E.Henry
Present: C.E.Henry, Mayor, S.O.Chase and Forrest lake, Commissioners, G.G.
Herring City Attorney, C.J.Ryan, City Manager.
Minutes of last Regular Meeting and Special meeting May 22nd read and approved.
Bill from the Carter Lumber Co. against the Chamber of Commerce $170.85 pre-
rented by Mr Deane Turner was considered and ordered paid and charged to Park
account.
Bill from the Fernald- Lawton Hospital covering expenses of Pauper ordered re-
turned as same is not a City Liability.
The following resolution was offered by Commissioner Forrest Lake and seconded
by Coimissioner S 0 Cgase : -t6L 4-1
Resolution declaring the necessity for additional telephone facilities in the
City of Sanford, Florida, and requesting the Southern Bell Telegraph and Tele-
phone Company to make immediate arrangements to provide necessary telephone
facilities to accomodate the extensive building program that is now in operation
in the City of Sanford Florida.
WHEREAS, the telephone facilities rendered by the Southern Bell Telegraph
and Telephone Company in the City of Sanford, Florida, are now taxed to their

utmost to take care of the present needs of the users of telephones, and.

A WHEREAS, the First National Bank has in course of construction a six story
building with banking rooms on the first floor and office rooms on the second and
third and fourth floors; Mr., John Meisch is preparing to build a two-story struct-
ure, consisting of five stores on the ground floor, and thirty -two offices on the
second floor; and Dr. S. Pulest on and L.A.Brumley will build in the near future
,a four or five.story building with store rooms and offices; and there is a very
large number of other buildings, both business and residence, contemplated in
the very near future, all of which will demand on the part of the Southern
Bell Telegraph & Telephone Comiany a large increase in their telephone service
beyond it's present capacity, NOW THEREFO'IiE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA.
That the telephone facilities within the City of Aanford, Florida, should
be very greatly increased to meet the demands of the rapid growth in business
and residence property within the City.
BE IT FURTHL2 RESOLVED; that a copy of this resolution be mailed to the
Southern Bell Telegraph &; Telephone Company, and a copy to the Railroad Commission
of the State of Florida, Tallahassee.
The above and foregoing resolution was unanimously adopted by the City
Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, this 12th day of June A.D.1922

Resolution declarin that additional Fire plugs are necessary for the protection
of the Inhabitants of the City of Sanford Florida; designating the points within the lim-
its of the Oity of Sanford, Florida, where additional fire plugs are deemed necessary; and
directing the Southern Utilities Company, a corporation, to place said fire plugs at the
designated points; and declaring this to be an emergency measure necessary for the immedi-
ate preservation of the public safety.
WHEREAS, the rapid growth of the City of Sanford, Florida, requires that the fire
protection be extended by means of fire plugs in order to assure the inhabitants of the
City the fire protection to which they are entitled, and
111HEREAS, under their franchise, the Southern Utilities Company, a Corp ®ration,
is held and bound to place additional fire plugs at such points as may be designated by thl

tiA EREAS , the City Commissioners have carefully considered the situation and
are of the opinion that additional fire plugs are necessary; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY C ONMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA.
That additional fire plugs are necessary for the proper protection of the in-
habitants of the City of Sanford, Florida; that additional fire plugs should be placed
and fire protection extended on the following Streets and Avenues of the City of Sanford
Florida, namely: 0

additional hydrants or fire plugs, one of vhich shall be placed at the intersect-
ion of Union Avenue and Mellor_ville Avenue; on South Sap-ford Avenue thu water
main extedfted from the intersection of Sanford Avenue and Central Street south
to the intersection of Sanford Avenue and Hughey Street, requiring two additional
hydrants of fire plugs, one of srihich shall be placed at the intersection of Hughey
Street and Sanford Avenue; Cypress Avenue the water main extended south to Celery
Avenue; Celery Avenue the water main extended west from the intersection of Cypress
Avenue to Sanford Avenue; and Sanford Avenue the water main extended south from the
intersection of Celery Avenue and Sanford Avenue to 'Thirteenth Street; And Thir-
teenth Street the water main extended from the intersection with Sanford Avenue
west to alley between. Magnolia Aveneue and Park Avenue; these extensions will re-
quire four hydrants; and additional hydrant or fire plug at the intersection of
Oak Avenue and Eleventh Street; extension of water mains and fire hydrants on
French Avenue from Ninth Street to 'Thirteenth Street; and on Thirteenth Street
from french Avenue to alley between Park Avenue and Magnolia Avenue; this extension
will require four hydrants or fire plugs.
That the Southern Utilities Company, a corporation, be, and it is hereby direct
to make the above extension of mains and to erect the hydrants as hereinbefore
specified on said extensions.
AND BE 17 FURTHER RESOLVED: That this is an emergency measure necessary
for the immediate preservation of public property and safety and shall take effect
immediately upon_ its passage by the unanimous vote of the City Commission of the
City of Sanford, Florida,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; That a copy of this Resolution be mailed to the
local Manager of the Souther Utilities Company, Sanford Florida, and a copy to
the Superintendent of the Southern Utilities Company at Palatka, Florda.
The adoption of the above and foregoing Resolution was moved by S.O.Chase
and seconded by "'orrest Lake on the 12th day of June A.D.1922, and on vote the same
was passed by the unanimous vote of the City Commission of the City of Danford, Flor-
ida, as follows:

An Ordinance requiring all buildings hereafter constructed within the corporate
Limits of the City of Sanford to be used as storage rooms or sales rooms for the
storage or sale in quantity of any highly inf1tmable or combustible material or things
to be built in accordance with the requirements of buildings to be erected within the
fire districts of the pity of 6ar_ford, Florida and declaring this to be an Emergency
Measure for the immediate precervation of the public Safety,

SECTION 1. That no building or structure shall hereafter be erected or built with-
in the corporate limits of the City of Sanford, Florida, to be used as a storage room or
sales room for the sale or storage in quantity of any highly inflamable or combustible
material or thing except and unless the said building or structure be built and constr-at
ed in accordance with the requirements of buildings to be erected within the fire district
Of the City of Sanford, Florida.
SECTION 2 That this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure for the immediate
preservation of the public property, and sh -11 become effective from and after the date
of its final passage.
SECTI')17 3. That this ordinance shall be publiehed once within ten days after its
fir._al passage in a newspaper of general circulation in the Cityof aanford, r'lorida.
