112723ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF CITY COMMISSION TUESDAY NOV. 27,1923. The City Commission met in Adjourned Regular Session, at g P.M. Present: Commissioner Forrest Lake ( Mayor) C J Marshall and S 0 Chase. W. B Williams, City Manager, George A DeCottes, City Attorney, Fred T Williams City Engineer. Tt was moved, duly seconded and unanimously adopted that the City Manager and Mr Jos. E Craig, Consulting Engineer, arrange for an early conference with the Manager of the Southern Utilities Co. regarding failure of water pressure during time of fire which occurred at an early hour this morning, resulting in the destruction of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church and otther property, and in this connection to make ` an inspection of the water plant of the Utilities Co., and it was further ordered that the Manager of the Southern Utilities Co be requested by the City Manager to submit a written report to this Commission not later than 3 P M December 3rd. 1923, as to why an adequate pressure of water was not available this morning during the conflagration. It was moved and unanimously adopted that the City Manager be authorized to secure competitive bids on sinking four six inch wells for fire protection to be located on First St. and Second Street. reporting on Monday Dec.-3,1923 at 3 P.M. It was moved and unanimously adopted that the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract for the purchase of one fifty ft. 4 cylinder City Service Motor Ladder Truck with pneumatic tires in the sum of Five Thousand Five Hundred dollars with the American LaFrance Fire Engine Co.. Terms : One Thousand Dollars on delivery and acceptance of apparatus, and balance to be paid in four equal annual payments by notes bearing interest @ 6% per annum. The matter of calling an election for bonds for Utilities was discussed and referred to the City Attorney for action. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
