Present : Commissioners Forrest Lake ( !;gayor) C J Marshall, S 0 Chase, City Manager W B Williams, City Engineer, F T Williams; Consulting Engineer Jos E Craig, City Attorney George A DeCot tes. The following report from Special Water Works Committee from Chamber of Commerce was read: "Please note the following action taken by the Special Water works Committee of t: Chamber of Commerce and refer same to the City Commission. This Committee recommends to the City Commissioners that they proceed at once with the construction of the new waterworks plant and if before the construction proceeded too far, the'C©mmissioners received an acceptance from the Southern Utilities Company of a new proposition submitted covering a fair "going value" of the plant within the figures recommended by the Engineer, that same be considered. The following amendment to the was made by George W Knight and accepted, That this Committee recommends the City Commissioners making an offer of $71,000.00 to the Southern Ttilities Company for the water works plant "as is" payable in cash, the City taking immediate possession, and the SoutIrm Utilities Company agrees to furnish power for the plant for four centsrper K W hour or less unti the City's power house is in operation. This offer to be accepted by the Southern Utilities Company within 15 days and the Commit ee further recommends that if the Sputhern Utilities Company fails to accept this offer of the City Commissioners within this time limit made by the City Commissioners, all further nego tiattons in regard to the water works will be discontinued. H R Stevens, Chair S 0 Shinholser G W Knight F T Williams A P Connelly W B Williams 1 Commissioner S 0 Chase offered the following resolution, and moved its adoption.: BE IT RESOLVED, that the report of the water works Committee regarding sub- mission of a proposition to the Southern Utilities Co. for the purchase of its water plant having been duly considered, that the Clerk of the City of Sanford, be, and he is hereby directed to submit the following proposition to the Southern Utilities Company to -wit: That the City of Sanford offered the Southern Utilities Company the sum of $;71,000.00 for its present water plant "as is" said sum to be paid in cash. Possession of said plant to be delivered to the City within 30 days from date of acceptance of the of- fer- said offer to be accepted within 15 days from date.
