080927CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, MINUTES The City Commission of the City of Sanford Florida met in adjourned session at the City Hall in S~n. ord Florida at T~vo Oclock P ~ on August 9th 1927, Mayor Pro-tem, E F Housholder presiding. Present: Commissioners E F Housholder, Mayor- Pro-tem, $ 0 Chase, Commissioner City Nanager, ~ B 'Villigms, City Attorney George A DeOottes; City Engineer, Fred T %7illiams .Chief of Police Roy G %~illiams and City Clerk L R Philips. The minutes of the last meeting read and approved. ~mmissioner Chase offered Resolution ~353, providing for the i~suance by the City of Sanford, Florida, unto the First ~'~ational Bank of Sanford of a certificate of in- debtedness in the sum of ~10,000.00 to ~emporarily finance current e~enses of the City which reoolution was unanimously &dopted. A petition was presentea to the City Commission requesting the Commission to pl..ce the name of U C Hill on the official ballot of the City of oanfo~d, Florida to fill the unexpired temm of Forrest Lake, as City Co~nissioner of the City of Sanford, Florida at an election to be called by the Commission. ~fr Housholder announced that the candidacy of Er Hill met with the whole-hearted approval of the City Commission. Er Thrasher , represmt- ing the Tax Payers League, recommended ~r Hill as a suitable candidate and pledged the support of the League. Election called for August 25, 1927. The Commission instructed the City Attorney to address communications to Chase ' ' ~ ~' ~at~on~l B~nk of .,~ew York, Atlantic ~ational B~,. nk of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Florida, and the Fifth-Third Union Trust Company of Cincinnati~ relative to the present financial situation in Sanford. Mr Housholder stated that following a conference ~ith the Board of Governors of the Sanford Chamber of Commerce, it was definitely decided that no further moneys from any appropriation heretofore made, would be paid to the Chamber of Co~muerce, but~ that the Co~uu~ssion would work out a plan whereby the indebtedness of the Chamber of Commerce would be paid by the City of San_ford, Florida by appropriations covering a six year period. ~e matter of cement blocks used in the construction of buildings in the ~ity of Sanford Florida wa~ re~'erred to the City l~anager with power to act. Commissioner S 0 Chase offered Resolution ~353½ as follows: WHEREAS, the following described securities of the City of Sanford, Florida, were heretofore forwarded to the Clmse ~ation~l Bank of I~e~ York for delivery to the purchaser or of said securities under instructions furnished by the City of Sanford, Florida or purchasers to-wit: and $250,000.00 ~00,000.00 40,000.00 ~ Hosoital Bonds ~-/~ Docks and 7a]arves Bonds 5g/~ Police Telephone Call bonds. 50,000.00 cL~ ~/~ Fire Station Bonds. ~EREAS, it is now the sense of this Co,hi,sion that the sale of said securities of the City of Sanford, Florich% should be withheld and that said securities should be returned to the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, therefore, CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, MINUTES August 9, 1927 BE IT F~EHER RESOVED that the City Clerk furnish unto the City Attorney a certified copy of this resolution for transmissal to the Chase National Bank.
