FLORIDA- � _ Present: Mayor- Commissioner -E F.Housholder Commissioner S 0 Chase Commissioner' C Hill City Manager, W B Williams Acting Chief of Police, A H Beckwith Minutes of adjourned session of September 6th read and approved. Communication from City Engineer Fred T Williams re: unfinished street paving read and filed. Communication from Hill Hardware Co. relative to city check #10929 for $114.48 covering the Hill Hardware Co's bill for 8une, and stating that same had never been received by them, and asking that -this amount plus balance of July Account $27.02 and August Account 338.96 and one item of September lat. of $45.00 aggregating $229.46 be paid to them and agreeing that they will then give the City a check in full for their; 1926 taxes amounting to #978.57. Commissioner Chase moved and Commissioner W C Hill seconded, and the motion was unanimously adopted that the Clerk be authorized to make this - settlement with the Hill Hardware Company. of a sidewalk • Commissioner 8 0 Chase introduced Resolution #3571 requiring the construction,/ on the west side of Park Ave along and across Oviedo Branch of the A C L between Fifteent: St Extd. and Sixteenth 9t.; and moved that same be adopted. Thereupon the following vote was cast. Commissioner E F Housholder, Aye " 8 9 Chase Aye " W C Hill Ayes Mr W H Hand tequested that the balance of July Account 22.73 And August Account -------------------=-----------.._- lL 00 33-7T- be paid in full and agreeing that on reoeipt of check for lthis amount,to give the City a check in full.-for 1926 taxes against W H Hand amounting to $94.35 On motion by Commissioner 8 O Chase, seconded by Commissioner g C Hill and 'bnanimously adopted, the Clerk was authorized to make this settlement with W H Band. Communication from J E Vincent relative to removing certain old boats was read aid the City Manager was.authori zed to handle the matter without cost to the City. Mr M W Temple came before the Commission regarding the removal of old awnings on First Street in front of Hynes buildings, and re- erecting same in rear of,,,,property. On motion of Commissioner S 0 Chase, seconded by Commissioner W C Hill, the matter was referred to the City Manager and the'City Attorney with power to act, being governod by the City Ordinances and the building code. On motion duly adopted the City Manager was authorized to purchase 3000 pounde Italian Rye Seed for Golf Course. Report of the City Manager for August was submitted and filed. The matter of Mr I R Estridge relative to chiral having beta D tten by _a monkey in the City Zoo mentioned in the Minutes of August 10, 1927, was discussed and it was or- dered that the matter be referred to the City Attorney with instruction to ftwnish the City Commission a written opinion as to the extent of the City's liability in this case. • On motion duly adopted the City Manager was instructed to have a street light installed at the intersection of Hughey Street and Lootat Ave. i r ..a Ida l t, CITY COMMISSION. -SANFORD. Regular Meeting 8egt�. 12, o.; 3,927a �� a Communication from Runicipal Judge , W E White-relative to oa$e of Mr J E Day fined in the Municipal Court under date of August 22,-,-1927 recommending that a part of all of fine be remitted, was read and also communication from 8 D Jordan, Clerk of Circuit Court.of Volusia County, and from S E Stone, Sheriff,and former.Oirouit Judge - Perkins as to the character of Mr Day. After careful consideration it was moved and adopted that the sentence ggainst Mr J E Day be commuted and he be,released from bond. Commissioner Housholder voting Aye Commissioner S 0 Chase voting Aye Commissioner W C Hill notim6ting. Acting Chief of Police A H Beckwith, submitted the matter of the cases of Rosa Lee and Victoria Bivins.fined in the Municipal Court under date of September 12th 1927 for pos- session of intoxicating liquor. Rosa Lee fined, $100.00 Victoria Bivens 200.00 and requested that they be released from custody on payment of half of their fines and agree- meat U Oatf th# rbb ,ndSinin weekly installments of $10.00 each. On motion duly adopted it was so ordered. ,' 4�/�• Local Manager of the-Southern Bell Telephone Co. came before the Commission relative to replacing certain poles etc on First Stteet instead of putting cables under ground. After discussion:, on motion duly adopted the request was denied. Mr F L Woodruff came before the Commission requesting some adjustments on the 1927 Taxes against the following property: Lots 4 and 5 Blk 9 Tr. 7 ) Lot 10 Blk 4 Tier 4 ) S. 4J Ft of N 112 of Lot 4 Blk-3 Tr. 1 )_ Thrasher Property.
