The City Commission-of the City of Sanford met in Regular Session on September-26th.
1927 at 2:30 P M in the CAty Hall, Sanford Florida

Absent: Commissioner S 0 Chase on account of sickness.
Minutes of last regular meeting and of Special meeting of September 24thth. read
and approved.
Petition from citizens and tax Payers requesting renewal of contract with City
Band was submitted , read and filed.
Mr S R Dighton , Mr R J Holly and Mr 0 P Swope came before the Commission repre-
senting the Chamber of Commerce in the interest of the completion of fill work on
Seminole Boulevard west to connect with County work on same, and suggested several
plans by which the work might be carried on. 4The City Commission took'the matter under -
consideratiton.and requested City Engineer, F. T Williams to get in touch with the State
Road Bdpartment and get information as to the actual requirements and probable cost
Mr C A Byrd of the Florida Power & Light Co. came before the Commission relative to
Franchise for his Company and asking that the Commission give his Company a decision on th

matter on October 10th next.
Mr of the Good Humor Ice Cream Company came before the Commission
requesting definite information as to selling Ice-Cream at o r near the City Schools
The City Attorney was instructed to look into the matter and draft suitable:ordinanc
regulating, the same.

The Mty Attorney brought up the matter of G A Miller Inc4 now doing repair and
remodeling work for the McCrory Stores, and 'submitted certificates of Insurance for said
Company which in his 'opinion complied with the-requirements of the City Building Code.
The matter of moving metal awning from the front of the Hynes Block on First St.
and re- erecting same at the rear of building was authorized under the supervision of the

City Manager.
The City Engineer submitted a report showing amount due the City ,of Sanford
Vd3D &@;d&ng hard surfacing and otherwise improving Hughey Street and the Country Club
Road "also Hardy 'Ave., from Geneva Street north to Country Club Road in the sum of
$23,249.79.
On motion duly adopted , the Clerk was instructed to voucher same and send bill
to the Seminole County requesting payment at an early date.
Communication from City Attorney rendering opinion as to prohibiting Laundries f
other Cities` sending trucks in and soliciting business in Sanford was read and filed.
On motion duly adopted the City-Taz Collector was authorized to make receipt
to tam Tuggle in full for paving assessments on Lots 'l and 2 Blk 5 Tr. S and Lot 6 Blk 2
Tier 7 for the sum of $1,055.43 paid on receipts #533 dated Sept 6, 1927
T J Miller and F L Miller appeared before the Commission and tendered a deed c
bargain and sale executed by T J Miller and wife , Maude M Miller and F L Miller and
Wife Maude J Miller and the Sanford, Cemetery Company, a corporation, unt6 the City of
Sanford Florida conveying the property known as Lake View Cemetery, described as follows

and stated to the Commission that they stood ready to deliver said deed to the City prpon

`the issuance unto them of /certficate.of indebtedness for the sum of $1000.00 to T J Miller
and F L Miller, said indebtedness to be payable only by credits extended from time to
time on taxes and payable by.T J Miller and F L Diller.
After a full consideration of the proposation submitted, Commissioner .w C Hill
offered the following resolution, which was unanimously adopted to —wit:
- "WHEREAS, the City of Sanford, Florida has been negotiating for the past several
years for the purchase of the interest of T J Miller, F L Miller and the Sanford Cemetery.
Company in Lake View Cemetery, and
" WHEREAS, T J Diller and F L Miller have submitted a proposition t,o the City
Commission offering to convey all of their interest in and to said Cemetery property in
consideration of the sum of x$1000.00 and to take and accept from the City of Sanford,
Florida a certif icat of indebtedness of the City which can be used by them in the pay-
ment of taxes only,, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the proposition submitted by the Said T J Miller and F L Miller
be and the same is hereby accepted and upon the delivery of a good and sufficient deed to
the City of Sanford Florida conveying the property referred " to in this resolution: ,

the Mayor and the 'City Clerk of the City of Sanford Florida be, and they are hereby
autiorized and directed to make , execute and deliver unto the said T-J Miller and F L Miller
a certificate of indebtedness of the City of Sanford, Florida in words and figures as
follows:
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTES; That the City of Sanford Florida acknowledges
itself indebted to T J Miller, F L Miller and the Sanford Cemetery Company , a corporation

Motion was made and adopted that the Grand Jury now in session be requested to fully inv —
tigate the City affairs , financial, and otherwise, with regard to misfeasance or malfeasance
in office of any officer or employee of the-City, and with regard to the handling of the
01ty finances by any officer of the City.
The meeting then adjourned to meet Tuesday September 27th at 2 p M.
