Florida, met in regular session at 7:~a o'clock P M October Application next received from the Sanford Equloment Company for permit to o~erste two taxicabs in connection with their City Bus lines , and on motion duly carried, same was approved. Application next received from Mrs ~iary C.A!exander for permit to sell beer and wines at 1}O1 W. 13th St., and on recommendation of Chief of Police Williams, same was approved. Application next received from Clyde M. Beach for permit to sell beer and wines at 51~ Sanford Ave., and on request of Chief of Police Williams same was rejected. Application next received from Nick Constantine for permit to sell liquors to be consumed on premises at kO8 Sanford, for colored patronage only. Thereupon after careful consideratlou, Commissioner Bishop moved that be declined. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried. Report of September analysis of milk furnished by all dairies operating in Sanford, as prepared by Dr. L.R. Scrlbners Laboratories at Orlando, next presented, such report showing all such milk well within the requirements of Grade "A" Milk. In response to request for bids for furnishing uniforms for the Police and F~re and vouchered as evidenced by voucher Nos. 6101 thru 6186, and nayment authorized. Monthly reports of Streets, Sanitation, Health, Water, submitted, examined, approved Police, Fire, Library, and Golf Departments for the Financial statement of Sentember 19k3, submitted and examined. Bank statements in all accounts for the submitted and examined. the application month of September 1943, submitted and examined. and statement of revenues and exoenditures during the month ~onth of September 19h~, properly reconciled Departments, the following bid was next presented, Yowell Company- Lot 2~ - Coat and two nants $48.50 " 206 " " " 51,75 " 29© " . ,, 50.75 " 216 " " " 51.75 " 298 " " " 53-75 together with samo!es: Thereupon after careful comoarison of the prices submitted and the quality of merchandise bid upon, and in view of no other bids having been received, Commissioner Lodge moved that Yowell Comgany be awarded the uniforms from Lot No.206 at a price of $51.75 Seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried. bid for furnishing coat and two pants each, Current invoices and nayrolls for the month of September 19~3, properly audited 408 MINUTES CITY' COMMISSION, SANFORD. FLORIDA, 0otober On motion of Commissioner Hill, seconded by Commissioner Bishop and car~d, the Commission next euthorized the purchase for the Municipal Library of three original sections of Double-faced Free Stsnding Shelving and three additional sections for from Gaylord Brothers, Inc, Petition next presented, and Poplar Avenue, requesting the City to install a street light at this inter~ection. Thereupon after careful consideration, Commissioner Hilt moved that the Clerk be authorized to request the Florida Power & Light Company to have an $O CP all-night burning overhead bracket light installed at the intersection cf Thlrd Street and Ponlar Avenue and connect same to their street l~ghtlnE circuit. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and csrried. Petition next received , signed by seven members of the Shiloh Baptist Church located at the southwest corner of Thirteenth Street and Shepherd Avenue, requesting the City to install a sanitary sewer line on Shepherd Avenue in order for the church to connect to Thereupon Suot. Moughton w~s instructed to ore,are and submit an estimate of the cost of installing a sanitary sewer at the aforesaid ~ocation, for further consideration by the Board. The Clerk next reoorted that $1~OO.00 of the Fireman's Relief and Pension Fund and $2,OOO.O0 of the Policemen's Pension Fund had been invested in United States 2~% Series "G" War Savings Bonds, which were duly authorized by the Board of Trustees of said Funds. on motion of Commissioner Lodge, seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried, the Clerk and City Attorney were next author!zed access to the safety deposit box at the Sanford Atlantic National Bank for the purpose of storing the aforesaid government bonds for safekeeping. Aoplicatlon next rece!ved from Alice Sebb for widow's exem~tion for year 1943 on Lot 9 Block 24 Clark's Subdivis!on, aonlicatton for such exemntion at the Droner time having been neglected thru an oversight. Application aooroved. On motion duly adopted, the Mayor was next authorized to atte~ a meeting of municipal officials to be held in Miami on October 19, with Major General Philip B. Fleming, Administrator of the Public Works Agency, for the ouroose of discusslng host-war planning. The exoense of the trip to be borne by ~he City. Communication next read from the Florida State Fireman's Association notifying that the annual F~re College will be held at Miami on October 1~-22. Thereupon after considerable discussion and on motion duly carried, Fire Chief Cleveland was authorized to a~tend the Fire College at Miami on said da~es, the expenses in connection therewith to be borne by the City. On motion of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried the Commission next aonroved the purchase from Cohu & Torrey, New York City, of two Refunding Ser~es "B" BondS with coupons due March 1,1944, and subsequent coupons attached, at a price of $~5.OO each, and interest.
