The Clerk ne~t reoorted Mr. W.C.Ht!I to be the only candidate to qualify for nomination as City Commissioner for the Mun~cipal Primary Election to be held November 2, 1943, and that according to the l~w governing elections, it will not be necessary to hold amid Prlmary Election. Thereuoon Commissioner Lodge moved that Mr. W.C.Hill be duly certified as the nominee for the ~oslt~on of C~ty Co.missioner and hi~ name ordered or, hied on the ballot for the General Puntcloal Election to be held December 7, 1~43. Seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried. 412 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA,_ 0otober 19 Bill of F.B.Aahdown in amount of ~$169.25 cover~n~ carpenter labor furnished in repairing windows, window casings and floors in the City Hall building ne~t presented, and on motion of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Lodge, same was aoor~wed and payment authorized.. The Clerk next reported that Mrs. Ruth Stafford hsd tendered her resignation as office clerk in the Water Department, effective sometime during November. On motion duly carried, the Comm!sslon next authorized the employment of Miss Herschel Hamby at a salary of $115.aO per month, effective as of November 1,1943, to fill the vacancy to be created by the resignation of ~rs. Stafford. Letter next read from Chase & Company offering to charge off from their books an old balance against the City in amm~nt ~' $2~.11 representing discounts taken by the City after the expiration of the discount period, providing the City will charge off from its books the water bill penalties in amount of $2.65 assessed against Chase & Company for delinquent payments. Thereupon Commissioner Gut moved that the City accept Cha~e & Company's proposition of a compromised settlement of accounts, as outlined in their letter. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge. On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized the sale to Mrs Emelyn TenEyck Gottsch, of Lot 12, Block ~ Bel Air , at a price of $?5.00 subject to any unpaid St2te and County taxes. This property having been acquired by the City thru foreclosure of ts~es and special assessment liens. The Clerk next reported that Lot 3, Block 10, Tier C, E.R.Trafford's Map was assessed as improved property for the years 1936 thru 1939, whereas, the building was removed from this lot prior to 1936 and it should have been assessed as improved Drooerty for those years. Thereupon in order to correct this error in assessment, Commissioner Hill moved that the taxes against Lot 3 Block la Tier C, be adjusted to $5.10 for years 1936 and 1937, $~.O8 for 1938, and $1.5© for t939. Seconded by Comm~ssioner Lodge and carried. The Clerk next reported that the following described property was assessed as Improved for year ].939, whereas as un~ mnrov ed, All Bloe~ 19 of Chapman this promerty is vacant and should h~ve been assessed & Tucker's Addition, lying N. of Fourth Street exte~ed and W. of Pump Branch ( Less Beg. st N.W.Cor , run S. 12a ft. Consideration next given to the matter of acquiring right-of-ways for oubtic alleys in Buena Vista Subdivision.
