Wllliams Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of regular meeting of October 11,1943, next read and aoproved. Aoplicatton next received from Bertha Spann for permit to sell beer and wines at 1013 W. 13th Street, and on recommendation of Chief of Police Williams, same was approved. Commissioner Gut next introduced Resolution No. 666 and after being read in full by the Clerk, moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commiesioner Hill and carried by the following vote of the Commission: Aye Aye Commissioner Higgins " Bishop " # Hill # Lodge Aye Aye Aye said resolution No. 666 being in words and figures as follows: RESOLUTION NO. 666 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA · TO EXECUTE IN THE NAME OF THE CITY AN AGREEMENT WITH FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT COMPANY FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE FOR THE UNITED SERVICE ORGANIZATION BUILDING. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA: THAT the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Sanford, Florida, be and they are hereby authorized to execute in the name of the City a written agreement with the Florida Power & Light Company for electric service for the United Service Organization Building at the northeast corner of First Street and Sanford Avenue in said City for a period of one year from the 18th. day of August , 1943,,and from year to year thereafter. unless terminated as therein provided, in accordance with the terms of the Florida Power & Light Company's Rate Schedule No. 62 D 1 and the Company's General Rules and Regulations for electric service. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its nassage and adoption. On motion of Commissioner Hill, seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried the Commission next approved the sale to Albert Spann of the E. 69 ft. of N. 100 ft of Lots 41 and 42 Block G, Chaopell's Subdiv. at a price of $525.38 , subJec% to all unpaid State and County taxes. This property having been acquired by the City thru foreclosure of tax liens. Request next received from the War Food Administration to lease the City-owned property described as Block 27 of Robinson Survey, for the purpose of constructing a semi-permament labor camp thereon, the term of the lease to be for the duration of the existing war and 9° days thereafter, at a rental of $1.00 per year. Thereupon Commissioner Lodge moved that the City lease the aforesaid property to the War Food Administration for the purpose and under the terms as outlined above, and that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute the necessary lease agreemen% on behalf of the City. Seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried. On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized the sale to Elijah Powell of two small tenant houses located on Block 27 of Robinson's Survey at a price of $175.oO, said houses to be demolished and removed from the premises. On motion of Commissioner Bishop, seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried, the Commission next authorized the payment of $82.50 to Raymond K.Webster, Westport,Conn. in settlement of five old outstanding interest coupons No. 5 in amount of $27.50 each due January 1,1929, detached from old improvement Series "OO" Bonds Nos. 201 to 205, inclusive, dated January 1,1926, that were retired on September 21,1934. were due and payable prior to the date of the City's default in payment but were not presented for payment until recently. Chief of Police Williams next reoorted that he had disoensed with the services of George Haskins as police officer, effective ae of November 16,1943, and on motion duly carried~ sams was approved. On recommendation of Chief of Police Williams, and on motion duly adopted, the Commission next authorized the following increases in salaries of Police officers: W.H. Raulerson from $1~2.00 to $148.50 Der month. R.L.Gillyard fro9 $126.oO to $136.OO Der month. R.C.Wllcox from $99.00 to $105.OO Der'month. Request next received from Carl A.Takach to be allowed War Veterns exemption on taxes for years 1940 and 1941 against Lot 1 Block 1~ Tier 3, E.R.Trafford's Map, appli- cation for such exemption at the proper time having been neglected thru an oversight. AGREEIN* THAT THE STATE ROAD DEPARTMENT OF FLORIDA MAY USE THE PREBENT STORM-SEWAG~ SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF SANFORD THAT NOW DRAINB THE PORTION OF PARK AVENUE BETWEEN TENTH STREET ON THE NORTH AND T~ENTY-FIRBT BTRE~T ON THE BOUTH TO BE WIDENED BY SAID BTATE ROAD DEPARTMENT OF FLORIDA AND MAKE NECEBSARY IMPROVEMENTS THEREIN. AND THAT SAID CITY WILL MAINTAIN BAI~ STOICal-SEWAGE SYSTEM AND ANY IMPROVEMENTS MADE IN SAID BYBTEM BY THE STATE ROAD DEPARTMENT OF FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the Brats Road Department of the State of Florida will widen the pavement of that portion of Park Avenue from Tenth Street on the north to Twenty-first Street on the south from its present width of twenty-four feet to a width of forty- four feet, and WHEREAS, it will be necessary to provide for the proper drainage of saidportion of Park Avenue to be improved by the State Road Department of Florida and to use the present storm-sewage system of said City for that purpose and it may become necessary for said State Road Department of Florida to make improvements in said storm-sewage system for the purpose of properly draining said Park Avenue and said State Road Department of Florida has requested the City of Sanford to be allowed to use the present storm-sewage system of said City that now drains said portion of Park Avenue and make necessary improvements therein for the ~roper drainage of said portion of Park Avenue, and to agree to maintain said storm-sewage system as it now exists and any improve- ments therein made by said State Road Department of Florida: NOW, THEPEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida: That the City of Sanford, Florida in consideration of the aforesaid improvement to be made by the State Road Department of Florida in that portion of Park Avenue in said City between Tenth Street on the north and Twenty-first Street on the south by the widening of the pavement thereof from twenty-four feet to forty-four feet, the City of Sanford does hereby covenant and agree that the State Road Department of Florida may use the present storm-sewage system of said City now draining said portion of Park Avenue and make any necessary improvemente therin for the proper drainage of said portion of Park Avenue and that the City of Sanford will maintain eaidpresent storm-sewage system and any improvements therein made by the State Road Departme~ of
