Minutes of regular meeting of November 22, adjourned meeting of December 2, s~ecial meeting of December 8, and adjourned meeting of December 8, 1943 next read and aporoved- A committee from the local Townsend Cl~ub, with Joel s. Fleld as spokesman next outlined the program for their State Convention to be held in Sanford on January 15 and 16, and requested a contribution from the City toward defraying the exoenses of entertaining the visitors while attending this convention · for Thereuoon in view of the fact that the City's annual appropriation nubllcity is contributed to the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce, the foregoing request was referred to the Chamber of Commerce for consideratiOn. Mr. Bill Thorne next aopeared on behalf of the local American Legion Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars and requested a oermlt to ooerate a carnival at the north- west corner of Mellonville and Celery Avenues from December 31,!9~3 thru January 8, 194~, which will consist of the Great Lakes Exoositton Shows,Inc. Thereunon after considerable discussion, CommiSsioner Hill moved that the aforesaid oermlt be granted. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried. Report of December analysis of milk furnished by all dairies ooerating in Sanford as oreoared by Dr. L.R.Scribners Laboratories at Orlando, next oresented, such reoort showing all such milk within the requirements of "Grade A Milk." CommiSsioner Hill next introduced Ordinance No. 355, entitled: ORDINANCE NO.3~5 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CIT'f OF ~ANFORD, FLORIDA, DEDICATING THE SOUTH l0 FEET OF LOT ~l OF BLOCK G OF A D CHAPPELL'S SUBDIVISION OF BLOCKS G, K, AND J OF THE ToWN OF GOLDBBORO AS RECORDED IN pLAT BOOK i PAGE 71 OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS A pUBLIC ALLEY. and same was olaced on its first reading and read in full by the Clerk. Thereupon Commissioner Hill moved that the rules be waived and said Ordinance No. 355 be olaced on its final oassage and adoot~on. ~econded by Commissioner BlshoD Thereupon the question recurred uoon the waivure of the rules. CHAPPELL'S SUBDIVISION OF BLOCKS G,K, AND J OF THE TOWN OF GOLDBBORO AS RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK 1 PAGE 71 OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF SEMINOLE COUNTY,FLORIDA, AS A PUBLIC ALLEY° On motion duly adopted Ordinance No. 345 was ne~t ordered POSTED at the front door of the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, in accordance with the terms of the Charter, as amended. The following letter next read from Mr.W.A.~effler, member of the Advisory Committee of the Public Projects Fund, with the followlng endorsement of three other members of said Committee. Gentlemen: and December 23,1943 The Fernald-Laughton Memorial Hospital is making certain reoairs to the hosoital entailing a total cost of anoroximately chan~es and $5,o o. The hosoital has On hand some monies, but they neednow $1,500 to suoplement the monies that they have. The work seems most necessary and timely. Gray _A.E,Yowell Thereupon Commissioner Bishop moved the aonroval of the aooropriation of $1,500.O0 from the Public Projects Fund to the Fernald-Memorial HosOital for the puroose of making reoalrs and alterations to the hosnital building as recommended and approved by the members of the Advisory Committee of said Fund. Seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried. On motion of Commissioner Lodge, seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried, the Commission next authorized the ourchase from RCA Rsdio Corporation, Camden, N.J. of one AM Mobile Police Radio Receiver at a price of $140.00 for the ournose of replacing the receiver at the Police Broadcasting Station which has wor~ to such an e~tent as to hinder the efficiency of the department. The Clerk next reoorted that the ~ersonal MINUTES 441~ CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, December 27 at 7:30 P1~---~3 -- have been placed at $503.00 Thereupon in order to correct this error in assessment, Commissioner Hill moved that the assessed valuation of the aforesaid property be adjusted to $503.® for year 1943. Beconded by Commissioner Bishop and cerried. On motion of Commissioner Hill, seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried, the Commission next authorized the purchase frm H & W.B.Drew Company, Jacksonville,of lO,O00 letterheads, 5000 large envelopes and 5000 small envelopes at a price of $1~9.25 to be used by MroW.T.Wolfe in connection with the survey he le making of the local freight rate structure. In order to simplify the system of recording the adjustment of delinquent taxes and/or special assessment liens so as to affect a savings in time in the Clerk's office, and on approval of City Attorney Wilson, Commissioner Lodge moved that the Clerk be authorized to discontinue recording the l~st of delinquent taxes and/or special assessments in the minutes of the City Commission, inasmuch as such adjustments are itemized and recorded in full on the official tax receipts, together with authori- zation for such adjustments.
