The City Commission of the City of City Hall Present: Sanford, Florida, met in regular session in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:3© o'clock P.M. January 24,1944. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. regular meeting of December 13, adjourned meeting of December 20, December 27,1943, and regular annual meeting of January, 4,1944, next aoolication next received from J.T.Newby ,lnO6 Palmetto Ave., for oermit to D~ant Phlox flowers on the oarkway in front of the vacant lot at northeast corner of Palmetto Ave. and Eleventh Street, and on recommendation of Snot. Moughton same was aooroved. Ordinance No. 347, ShUttled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANEORD , FLORIDA REQUIRING THE PAYMENT OF AN ANNUAL LICENSE TAX ON DOGS AND PROVIDING FOR THE DISPOSITION OF DOGS UPON WHICH A LICENSE TAX HAB NOT BEEN PAID. INTORDUCED AND PLACED ON ITS FIRST READING AT THE MEETING OF THE City commission of January 10,1944, was next olaced on its final reading and read in full by the Clerk. Thereuoon the roll was called on the oassage and adoption of said Ordinance No. 347, the vote being as follows: Commissioner Gut Aye " Bishop Aye " Hill Aye " Lodge Aye Thereupon the Chairman announced that the City Commi~sion of the City of Sanford, Florida, by unanimous vote had passed and adooted said Ordinance No. 347, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD FLORIDA, REQUIRING THE PAYMENT OF AN ANNUAL LICENSE TAX ON DOGS AND PROVIDING FO~ THE DISPOSITION OF DOGS UPON WHICH A LICENSE TAX HAS NOT BEEN PAID. On motion duly adopted, Ordinance No. 347 was next ordered PUBLISHED in the Ssnford Herald. The Clerk next reoorted that the Fire Insurance in amount of $12,OOO.OO on the machinery and equipment at the Municioal Water Pumping Station and Suoply Wells expires on January 25,194~. Thereuoon after considerable discussion, and on motion duly carried, the Commission ordered the aforesid insurance renewed for one year with Frank L.Woodruff,Jr. for a coverage of $10,O00.00 instead of $12,0OO.OO. On recommendation of Chief of Police Willians, and on motion duly adopted, the Commission next authorized the salary of ooliceman C.D.Bass increased from $126.00 to $142.O~ o~r month, effective February 1,1944. Consideration next given to the request of the Fernald-Laughton Memorial Hoenitel for an additional 448 MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, January 24 at 7:? P 1~944 Thereupon after considerable discussion, end in view of the fact that the City owns the aforesaid hospital building, Commissioner Bishop moved t~t the City match the County's contribution to the Fernald-Laughton Memorial Hospital up to $10OO.00 Seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried. On motion of Commissioner Hill, seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried, the Commission next authorized the purchase from Bacharach Industrial Instrument Company, Pittsburgh, Pa. of one Ty~e-P-CP Engine Pressure Indicator, complete with valves, at a price of $147.50, to be used for testing the comnression and firing pressures on the diesel engines at the Water Plant. The Clerk next reported that the City-owned w~s comnletely destroyed by fire on January 19,1944, hangar at the old municipal al. roort which was covered by insurance in amount of $750.00, and that claim has been filed for the damages. On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized the sale to I.L.Tslbott of Lot 9 Block 13 Tier A, E,BoTra~ford's Map, at a ~r~ce of $350.00. This property having been acquired by the City thru for-closure of taxes and special assessment liens and the proceeds of such sale to be divided between the County and the C~ty, pro rata, in the proportion of liens of eech for general taxes against said property, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 22079 ,Acts of 1943 Legislature.
