The City Com,~ission ol' the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned
session at tile City Hall in the Cit'y of Sanford, Florins, at 2:00 o'clock P.]/..

U~eetin~ called to order by the Chairma~ .~.ho announced th,~t the purpose of
the meeting was to confer with ~'r. GeO.W.$imons Jr. ~unicipal Planning Engineer,
with reference to the preliminary surveys and investigations in connection with
Zoning' the City, and also to appoint a Zoning Commission in accordance with the
provisions of Chapter 19539, Acts of 1939 Legislature, the legislative authority
under wi~icn the City is being, zoned.
ldr Simons then outlined in detail the assitance needed in making the
necessary field surveys a~d preparings, preliminary maps to be furnished by the
City in accordance wit~ the terms o±' ilia co~tract.
Thereupon after considerable discussion, and on motion duly adopted,
the Com~ission aut~orized the employment of G.P.Paxton and ~ob Gut to assist Yr.
Simons with the preliminary work as outlined.
On motion of Co:~mi~'sioner Gut, seconded by Co~mis~ioner Bishop and carried,
the Commission next appointed the following to serve as the Zonin~ Commission:

Mr. Frank L.Mlller, owner of the Pa]ms and Pines Restaurant, and Mr. G.W. Boencer
Attorney for Laney Drug Stere, Palms & Pines Restaurant, The Anchor, Palmetto Cafe,
City Drug Comoany, Montezuma Motel Dining Woom and Angel's Eat Shack, next aooeared
before the Board with reference to the orooosed ordinance to orohlblt the olaylng of
music machines, commonly called "Juke Organs", on Sundays, and requested the Commission
to give f~vorable consideration to not enacting such a law. Attorney Bnencer then filed
a written orotest against the adootlon of the nrooosed ordinance.
Mr. Miller next requested the Commlsslon not to adoot the oronosed ordinance to
prohibit the sale of beer and w~nes on Sundays, clslming that it would lmoose a hardshlo
on the merchants sell~ng such beverages in connection with restaurants and similar
tyoes of bu~Iness, because it will curtail their Sunday oatronage.
Action deferred, oendlng the consideration of the entire Board of City Commission.

of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried, same was aooroved.

Pursuant to lease agreement dated June 1,19~4, between the City and victor Check,

On motion duly Carried, the Comm}~sion next authorIEed an e~oendtture in
amount of $76.O1 to reimburse Mr W.T.Wolfe, Traffic Consultant, Jacksonville, for oostage
fees in mailing questionaires in connection with survey of local freight rate structure.
The Clerk next reoorted that Mrs Hereche! Mamby Kenney tendered her resig-
nation as office clerk in the Water Deoertment, effective as of ,June 12,1954, and that
Miss Annie Weeks had been emoloyed temoorerlly to fill the vacancy, and on motion ~uly
adooted, same was aoproved.
Cn motion of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried,
the Commission next aooroved the sale to D.C.grock of Lot 5 qloek 9 Tier 1, E.R.Traeford's
Man, at a orice of $4OO.00; and the s~le to E.M.Armltage of Lot 9 Block !, Dreamwold
Second Section, at a orice of $1OO.OO. This orooerty having been accuired by the City
~hru foreclosure of texas and soeciel assessment liens and the proceeds from such sales
to be divided between the City and County in accordance with the orovlsion~ of Chanter
22079, Acts of 19~3, Legislature.

The Clerk nex~ reoorte~ that the City's mechanic found the four 1950 Model
Dodge Pickuo trucks stored at Palm Beach to be in good condition, which were offered for
sale by the Procurement Divislon of the United States Treasury Deoartment at e orice of
$550.95 each, and that he hsd o]aced an order for the nurchsse of one of them for the
W~ter Deoartment, and on motion duly carried, ~smo was eo~roved.
On motion duly adooted, the Clerk w~s newt ordered to obtain orices for
furnishing and Installing an iron guard rail around the roof of the b~ndshell b, Hlding,
for consid~ration by the Commission.
The Clerk next oresented tentative budget of revenues and exnenditures for the
fiscal year 19ag-1945, and same wes taken under con~deratlon and study.
