MINUTES Rolling,Ir19 W. !~th St, beceuse of their convictions in the Municipal Court for keeping disorderly place of business and o!ace of 'ill repute, which are in vinlation of Section ll of Ordinance No.256' regulating the sale of such beverages, the Clerk next advised that the records of the Munlcioal Court show that only E.Z.Irwln and Levesta Curry were convicted for violating said Ordinance No. 256, and that J.E.Jones was convicted for keeping a disorderly place under the provisions of Ordlnance No. 139, and Charlte Rolling was convicted for keeping a o!ace of il! repute under the orov~slons of Section 122 of the Revlsed Ordinances. Thereupon Commissioner Hill moved that the Commission rescind the action of the meeting of July 10,1944, revoking the 1943-19~~ Beer and 7J1ne l~censes issued J.E.Jones 422~ E.Fourth St, and Charlle Rol!ing,121~ W.~th St. Seconded by Commissioner B!shoo and cerried. Thereupon Commissioner Gut moved that J.F.Jones and Chsr!!e Rolling be notified the City Co~mlssion w~ll meet at 2:00 o'clock p.~. August ~,1944, to consider that the revocation of their 1943-1944 Beer and Wine licenses because of the aforesaid convictions in the Munlcioal Court, and that they may show Just cause at said meeting, if any they have, why ss%d licenses should not be revoked. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and Carr%ed. Request next received from Mrs. W.C.Hutchison,2OOO Park Avenue, for an adjustment of her water bill for month of June in amount of $16.90, the excessive size of the bill being due to a burst in oi~e llne in her flower ~arden, which wan caused by the construction crew ~n connection with widening Park Avenue, also, to adjust the July bill that will be excessive from same leak in pice llne. Thereupon after careful conslderstlon, and in view of the fect thst the burst in the aforesaid pice line was caused by the road contractor in connection with widening Park Avenue, Commissioner Lodge moved that the Clerk be authorized to edJust Mrs Hutchison's water b~ll for months of June end July to the amount of her average monthly bill. Seconded by Commissioner Hill and csrried. Commissioner Hillnext moved that the action at the regular meetln~ of July lo, 194~, revoking the 1943-1944 licenses issued Joe Moss to operate electric phonographs at 422~ E. Fourth St, 1610 W. ]~th St., 1216 W. l~th St. and 1219 W. ~3th St, be rescinded, and that Mr. Moss be notified that the Comm~ssion will conslder the revocation of the said !~censes at the meeting to be held at 2:00 o'clock P.M.August ~,!9~4, and that he ~y show Just cause at ssld meetlng, if any he has, why said licenses should not be revoked. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried. Request next received from Mrs Elizabeth Lake for homestead exemption for the year 1944 on Lot 8 Block ll Tier 6, E.R.Trafford's Mac, application for such exemption at the proper time having been neglected thru an oversight. Thereupon after considerable discussion and in view of the fact that the Acts of the 1943 Legislature requires all homestead exemptions to be filed with the County Tax Assessor on or before April 1, beginning with the year 19k~. The aforesaid application was filed for further consideration, pending sdvice of the City Attorney. The Mayor next reported that the 1940 Model Dodge Pick-up Truck ourchased for the Water Department f~om the Procurement Division of the United State~ Treasury Department is not a standard ntnk-,,~ ~,,.v o~ ~. .~- 1 .... On motion of Commissioner Blshoo, seconded by Co~missloner Hl!] and carried, the Commission next authorized the oayment of $50.0© to L.P.Hagan ~nd wife, in lieu of removing and transolantSng two magnolia trees from the five-foot strio of lend conveyed by them to the S~ate Road Deoartment for widening Park Avenue, in accordance with the orovlsions of Peso]ut!on No. under date of Mebrusry l~,19Q~. The Cler~ next advised that the 575, passed and adooted by the City Commi~slon County has not made an allocation of the City's share of the Road and Bridge ia×es for the years 19~5 thru 1943. but h~s osid the City zn estimated amount for its share for the ye~rs 19~5 thru 19h'2. stating that according to his estimate, the osyments m~de by the County is considerably lees than the actu.l ta~es levied end collected for the City whlch'reoresente one-half of Road snd Bridge taxes levied against all orooer%y in the City. The Chairman next announced that Mr. W.T.Wolfe, Traffic Consultant, Jacksonville. will visit Ssnford on July 26 for the ouroo~e of discusstnE the freight rate survey he is making for the Clty. Also. that Mr. ~esley B~ntz, Consultant Engineer, will visit Ssnford on August l, for the ournoee of dlscuss~ng the matter of constructing the orooosed swimming oool in Fort Metlon Park under the olans and soeciflcat!on of the oatented "Bintz Swlmm~ng Pool."
