The City Commission of the City of Oanford, Florida, met in regular session at
City Hall in the City of Ssnford, Florida, at Y:~O o'clock P.M.Augu~t 14,194h.

Aoolication next received from Clarence Henderson for oermlt to transfer his
1~43-194~ beer and wine license from ~00 E. Seventh St. to y20 East Seventh St., and
on recommendation of Chief of Police ~;llliams, same was aooroved.
The following recommendation next received from the City Planning Committee with
resoect to the aoolication :,f W.E.Kirchhoff Jr. , oresented at the meeting of July 24,
for oermit to anchor a large house-boat in Lake Monroe lm,'edlately north of the Mayfsir
Hotel: "The Committee is not in oossession of sufficient facts to form an ooinion, however,
we fear off-hand that the houseboat might become a wreck and orobably eventually an eyesore." i
Action deferred, Deriding further consideration.

Communication next reed from the Sanford Lions Club recommendlng a better enforces-
merit of laws regarding soeeding and reckless driving in all sections of the City, and
same was ordered filed.
Petition next received from the Colored Welfare League ca~llng the Commission's
attention to the deolorable condition of several of the streets tn Goldsboro section
and requesting the Uity to make reoairs to same. Also, to i~stal! street lights at
intersection of Clark Ave. and Twelfth St., Olive Ave. and Twelfth St., Oleander Ave
and F~fteenth St., and in front of Bethlehem Pr~mitive Bsotlst Church on Fifteenth St.
Thereuoon after c~nsiderable discussion, and on motion duly carried, the Commission
authorized the emoloyment of W.$.~arle, engineer, at a salary of $10.OO Der diem, to make
s survey of Thirteenth St., Pecan Ave, Olive Ave, and Mulberry Ave. and oreoare an

Thereupon after careful consideration, and in view of the fact that the Orange
State Oil Comoany owns the ~rooerty aOutting both sides of Water Street at the aforesaid
location, the Commission authorized the City Attorney to oreoare for adotion at the
next regular meeting an ordinance closing and vecntlng said street and granting the
Orange State Oil Comoany an easement thereto for the ournoses requested in their
letter, but not to include an exclusive easement,
The ~lerK next advised that Ferran's Tree Surgeons are in Senfor4 trlm~Ing
trees for the Florida Power ~ L~ght Com~eny and tnst they ,.Till trim the trees for the
City that are obstructing the i!lumtnetlon from the whltewey lights, stet~ng thet
their fee is $~.00 oer hour, lncludlng three men and equloment.
Thereuoon after careful conslderetlon, end on motion duly adooted, the Comm~sslon
authorized the emoloyment of Ferran's Tree Surgeons to trim the tre~s obstructing the
whiteway lamos at s cost of $~.00 oer hour, the total cost not to ewceed $300,00,
In accordance with the orovlsions of the ~us Franchise ordinance the Senford
Transit Comoany neNt submitted e comolete schedule of eli bus routes establlshed in the
City,
The Clerk next advised that he hsd been unable to col]ectthe franchise fees
payable monthly from the Senford Transit Comoany, in accordance w~th the terms of their
franchise, and same was referred t~ Chief of Police Williams.
The Chairman next reoorted that the hearing set for 2:00 o'clock P,M, Auffust
3, to consider revocation of the 19~3-1942 beer sad w~ne license of J,E.Jones and
Charlie Rolling, and the Electric ?honogreoh licenses of Joe,Moss was oostooned at
the request of the defendant's attorney, and that a meeting will be c~lled at an early
date to consider the matter,
