The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regu~r session
at the City Hall in the City of San ford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. November 13,1944.

regular meeting of October 23, and adjourned meeting of October 25, 1944, next read and
approved.

Thereupon after careful consideration , and in view of no other bids having
been received, Commissioner Lodge moved that the bid of Hill Hardware Company be accepted
for furnishing 500 ft. of 2{" Eureka Multex 2-nly Multiple Woven Fire Hose at a price
of $1.10 per ft., and 200 ft. of 1~" Eureka Leader Line 2-nly Multiple Woven Fire Hose at
per ft.
Seconded by Commls~ioner Gut and carried.
The following b~ds were next nresented for renewing the subscrlntions for one
year to 48 magazines and periodicals for the Munlcloal Library:

Thereupon Commissioner Gut moved the acceptance of the lowest bid, that of
Coleman's Office Equipment Company in amount of $129.75

filling in the lower section of the present cemetery or develooing the section recently
olatted because there are only a few usable lots theft have not been sold.
Thereupon after considerable discussion, Commissioner Gut moved thet the City
emoloy two laborers to assist the caretaker in cleaning uo the cemeteries and olaclng them in
good condition.
Seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried.
Mr J G Heyck, reoresentatlve of the Union Oil Company of California, ne×t aoDeared
with further reference to leasing the mineral rights on the Munlcioal Golf Course and old
Municipal Airoort orooertiee, and submitted ~rooosed le~se agreements covering lease for
term of ~en years at a rental of 50~ Der acre Der year, rmyable in advance.
Thereuoon after a careful study of the aforesaid lease agreemen~, Commissioner
Gut offered the following resolutions, which were unsnlmously adopted. Mayor
RESOLVED, that Edward Higgine,/and N.N.$syer, C~ty Clerk, be and they are hereby
authorized to execute and deliver to Union Oil Comoany of Ca~Ifornls, Houston, Texas,
an oil, gs~ and mineral lease covering 167 acres of land, in Section 7, Township 20 South,
Range ~l East, Seminole County, Florida, and for the considerations, terms and provisions as
set out In ~aid lease. Said land being fu21y described in said. lease as followe,to-wlt: The Southwest 1/~ of Section y, Townshlo 208, Range 31 M.
RESOLVED, that Edward Hifflns, Mayor and H.N.Seyer, City Clerk, be and they are
hereby authorized to execute and deliver to U~xion Oil Comoany of California, Houstan,
Texas, an oil, gas and mineral lease covering 12B acres of land in Section ~, Townshio 20
South, Range 30 E~st, Seminole County , Florida, and for the considerations, term~ and

Thereupon after careful comparison of the prices submitted, and in view of the
fact that bot~ bids cover~ the same quality of merchandise manufactured by Feichhelmer
Bros., Commissioner B~sho~ moved that the bid be awarded to Yowell Company for furnishing
shirts at cost olus ten Der cent, and that the ourchase of uniforms be divided equally,
including value of shirts, between W.E.Watson and Yowell Como~ny for furnishlng Coat
and Two Pants uDiforms from Lot 296 at orice of $52.~5 and ~5B.M5 each, re~oec~lvely.
Seconded by Commiseloner Hill and carried.
Commissioner Lodge next introduced Resoluticn No. 683 and after being read in
full by the Clerk, moved its oas~age and adoption.

IN THE DEDICATION BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF SEMINOLE COUNTY, ~LOBIDA, OF LOTS I and
2 LAKE VIEW PARK, AS SHOWN IN PLAT BOOK Z, PAGE 41, OF SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA, PUBLIC
R~CORDB AS A PART OF" COURT HOUSE PARK."
WHEREAS, the County Commissioners of Semino~ County, Florida, have dedlcated
those certain lots, oleces or oarcels of land situate ~n the City of Sanford, Beminole
County, Florida, and owned by Seminole County, Florida, and described as lots i and 2 of
Lake View Park as shown in Plat Book 3, Page ~l, of the nubllc records of Seminole County'

Request next received from Mrs. Macle H.Hutchlnson for an adjustment of the
assessed valuation for the year 1944 in amount of 1890.00 agatnst lots 4 and 5, Block
12, Tier 8, E.R.Trafford's Man, claiming that the assessment is too h~gh.
Thereuoon after careful comoarison with the assessed valuation of similar
orooertlee similarly located, the Commission felt that the assessment against tnls
orooerty is well in line and no adjustment could be allowed.
On motion of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Bishoo and
the Commission next authorized the emoloyment of Menry McAlieter by contract
move 3~ trees from the right-of-way of Thirteenth Street between French Ave. and
Lake Ave. at a orlce of $600.00. These trees being removed for the ouroose of
widening the ~avement on Thirteenth Street.

Insoector Duncan on August 8, 1945, and demandlng immediate settlement of same.
Said claim conststlng of $513.OO for damages to automobile, $46.00 medical fees and
276.OO for lose of time from his Job.
Thereuoon on advice of City Attorney Wilson, Commissioner Gut moved tha~ the
aforesaid claim be referred to Mr. A.C.Woodrow, Clslm Adjustor for the Accident & Cas-
ualty Insurance Comoany, Winterthur, Switzerland, carrier of oublic liabili~y and
orooerty damages insurance on the City's automobile involved in the accident with Mr.
Merrell.
Oeconded by Commlesioner Hill and carried.
On recommendation of Chief of Police Williams, and on motion o f Co.missioner
Lodge, seconded by Commlssioner Hill and carried, the Commission next authorized the
emoloyment of H.T.Goffe ss oollce officer at a salary of $1~O.OO oer month, effective
as of November 1%, 194Q.
Communication nez~ read from E.P.Owen, Secretary of Florida I,eague of
Municioallties, advising of the annual League Conference to be held in Jacksonvil~
on December 7-9.
Thereuoon Commissioner Lodge moved that the Mayor, City Attorney and Clerk
be authorized to attend the aforesaid Florida Municioal League Conference on December
?-9, the exoenses in connection therewith to be borne by the City.
Seconded by Commlssioner Gut and carried.
