120644-Special Session MINUTES City COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, Dec. 6 at 12:00 Noon. 19 44 The City Commission of the City of Sanford st the C~ty Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, purpose of canvassing the elect!on returns of the 5,1924. Present: Commissioner Edward H1gglns, Mayor. " George D.B~shop " H.James Gut " M.J.Lodge City Attorney Fred R.Wilson City Clerk H.N.Sayer Absent: Commissioner W.C.H~ll. Neetlng celled to order by the Chairman. Florida met in $oecla! Session at 12:OO Noon, December 6, 1944, for the General Municipal Election held December Thereupon the Commission proceeded to canvass the returns of the General Municio.! Election held on December 5,1944, for the purpose of electing two City Commiesioners for terms of three years each, commencing the first Tuesday after ~he fire~ Monday in January, 1945, as made by the Clerk and Inspectors of said election, said returns being as follows: For City Commi~sioner - Group No. 1 ~or Geo.D.Blsho~ 36 vote~ For City Commissioner - Group No. 2 Mcr H.Jemes Gut ~ votes To,el votes cast 36 Thereupon Commissioner Lodge moved that the returns of the Clerk end Inspectors of the General Municipal Election held DeceSer 5, 19hh, be accented. ~econded by Commlseloner Bishop and carried. Thereupon Geo. D.Blehop and H.James Gut were certified es the regularly e~ected City Commissioners of the City of Zanford, Florlde, for three year terms each, commencing with the first Tuesday after the *lrst ~fonday in January 1955. On motion duly carried, payment of $5.OO to each of the Inspectors and Clerk of the General Election held on December 5, 19$4, wes ne~t authorized. The Clerk ne~t reonr~ed of accident on Decemberl, while driving the City's 1937 Model Dodge Sedan west on E~et ~lrst Street, caused by co%!idlng with a Chevrolet Coupe driven by Mr. Gordon ~.Chilburn of Sanford and owned by Mr. David N. Howard of Aoopka, which wa~ a~proachlng ~irst Street from Lee Ave.; stating that Hr. Chllburn was driving south on Lee Ave. and fat. led to ~too et First St., which i~ a thru street with large atop sign ~ainted on the pavement at seld approach, also, advising that the Chevrolet Coupe was not In=ured ag81nst public liability and property damages and that both Mr . Chilburn and Howard have refused to pay for damages to ~he City's automobile, of which the estimated cost of repairs amount to $245.00. Thereupon after considerable discussion, the matter was referred to City Attorney such legal steps aa necessary against both Mr. Chilburn cost of damages to the City's automobile aa a result Wilson with authority to take and Mr. Howard to recover the of the aforesaid accident. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
