The City Commission of the City of Sanford,
at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, ~lorida,

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Florida met in Regular Annual Session
at 7:30 o'clock P M January 7, 1947.
Application next submitted , together with plans and specifications from Holler
Motor Sales for permit to construct an automobile sales agency and garage building of
stucco over strand steel and sheet metal roof structure, on Lots 1 to 5 of Block h of Tier
2, located at southwest corner of Palmetto Avenue and Second Street.
Thereupon after considerable discussion and careful study of the plans and speci-
fications, Commissioner Bishop moved that Holler Motor Sales be granted a permit to construct
the aforesaid building, with a proviso that the entire building be completed within eight
months and all construction conform to the requirements of the building code.
Seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried.
Attorney G.W. Spencer next appeard on behalf of the local colored beauticians and
requested the Commission to adopt an ordinance requiring all beauticians to procure and
submit a certificate from the State Beautician Board before granting them a license to
engage in such business, stating that there are several beauticians operating beauty
parlors in the City thst are not qualified.
Thereupon after considerable discussion, the City Attorney was directed to prepare
such an ordinance for further consideration of the Commission.
On motion of Commissioner Williams, seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried,
the Commission next approved the ourchase from B.J.Van Ingen & Company, Miami, of 15
refunding series A bonds at s price of $680.00 each.
The City Manager next reported that H.W. Prescott, City carpenter, is incapacitated
from work because of illness and thst his absence will probably exceed the two weeks
sick leave with pay, which wes adopted by the City Commission, stating that Mr.
Prescott has been in the employ of the City for several years.
Thereupon the Commission authorized the continued payment of Mr Prescott's
salary upon a certificate from his physician that he is incapicated from work.
On motion of Commissioner Lasher, seconded by Commissioner Williams and carried, the
Commission next established a sales price of $125.O0 per eight grave lot in the second
section of Evergreen Cemetery, recently platted.
There being no further business to be transacted by the out-going Board, Collssioner
Hill moved that the meeting adjourn sine die.
Seconded by Commissioner Lasher and carried.
At this time ~'r Mill e~pressed his thanks and aopreciation to the members of the
Commission and the employees in the various departments of the City for their splendid
cooperation during his terms of office as ~ayor and Commissioner.
