The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at ?:30 o'clock P N Nay 5, 1947.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Letter next read from Strickland-Norrison, Inc. advising that they would not deliver
the two Ford 6-cylinder pickup trucks, for which they were awarded the bid at the meeting
of April 28,1947, for furnishing at a price of $1,017.27 each, claiming that their bid
was intended to cover all five trucks, of which Holler Motor Sales was awarded t~e bid for
furnishing the t~ree l~ ton long wheelbase chassis and cab units.
The City Manager then advised that Holler Motor Sales has offered to sell the City
one new Chevrolet pickup truck at a price of $1,O52.40 for immediate delivery, and one
more to be delivered within approximately 90 days.
Thereupon after considerable discussion and in view of the fact that the only other
bid received at the meeting of April 28, for furnishing the pickup trucks was that of
Seminole County Motors, which stipulated that all five trucks must be included,
Commissioner Williams moved that City purchase one Chevrolet pickup truck from Holler ~otor
Sales at a price of $1,052.40, for immediate delivery, and place an order for another to
be delivered within 90 days.
Seconded Ey Commissioner Bishop and carried.
Request next recelved from Nr Carl S. Nynes to remove some dirt from the City's farm
land on the lakefront for the purpose of making a fill on his adjacent property for a
proposed cabin court site.
Matter taken under advisement.
The City ~anager next advised t~at the War Assets Administration have a few 2~ ton
6x6 G~IC and International Trucks left over from the Veterans Sale held on May 1,194~,
which are located in Green Co~e Springs and Jacksonville, that could be converted into
a derrick and wrecker truck, wh~h is needed by the City to replace the old truck now
in service that has worn to such an extent to hinder its efficiency.
Thereupon the City Manager was authorized to attend the sale to be held in Jacksonville
on Nay 6, and purchase one of these trucks, provided the price is reasonable.
Bill of St. Johns Electric Company in amount of $324.04 covering materials and supplies
for repairing and maintaining runwsy lights at airport, next presented, and on motion of
Commissioner Lesher, seconded by Commissioner Williams and carried, same was approve and
payment authorized.
Request next received from M.D.Scott to be allowed the homestead exemption for year
1947 on his home property described as Lot ? of Block 9 Eayfair, application for such
exemption at the proper time having been neglected because of his wife's illness.
Thereupon Commissioner Carraway moved that the Tax Asseszor be authorized and
directed to allow Mr. Scott the homestead exemption for year 194~ on the aforesaid
property.

Communication next read from Frenchmans B~y Boating Company,Bar Harbor Maine,
advising of intent to exercise their option to operate an excursion boat on Lake Monroe
next winter , and that they would have a representative in Ssnford within BO~ays to enter
into a contract with the City.
Application next received from ~rs Mary R.~rewerton for position as Assistant Librarian,
and s~ne was referred to Mrs. E.J.Moughton, Librarian.
Request next received from Fred V.Bell that the restrictions be lifted on his property
described as the west 100 feet lying south of First Street of Block 22, Chapman &
Tucker's Addition, purchase from the City under date of May 18,1946, whereby a letter
agreement that an automobile agency building would be erected on this property witnin
one year was part of the consideration of conveyance. 5lt. Bell's reason for release
of the aforesaid restrictions being due to the high cost of building materials and
the lack of production of new autOmo0iles have forced him to abandon %his business
venture, and not having any further use of the property, would like to place it on the
market for sale.
Thereupon Commissioner Carraway moved that the City release the restrictions stip-
ulated in letter of agreement dated May 18, 1946, relative to the use of the aforesaid
property conveyed to Fred V Bell.
Seconded by Commissioner Williams and carried.
Consideration next given to the hazardous and unsafe condition of the bleachers at
the Diamond Ball Park, and on motion duly carried, the Commission authorized a portion
of the bleachers removed and the salvaged materials used to repair the remaining section.
There being no further business
