CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA,
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 4:30 o'clock P.N. Nay 8, 1947.
Present: Commissioner H.James Gut, ~ayor.

Neetlng called to order by the Chairman.
Letter next read from the Seminole County Representatives to the State Leglslature
advising that the Bill authorizing the State Road Department to take over the maintenance
of French Avenue as a connecting link of State roads had been passed by the Legislature, and
that they had conferred w~h ~r Elgin Bayllss, Chairm~n of the State Road Department,
relative to reconstructing this street, and as & result the following proposals were
under consideration:
1. The State Road Department can immediately resurface and place all of French
Avenue in good condition at an estimated cost of $35,000.00
2. To secure s~rvey and make a thorough study an~ to completely reconstruct
French Avenue will cost approximately $375,000.00 and take from one to
three years to complete.
T~ere~po~ after careful consideration, snd in view of the existing conditionof
French Avenue, it was theopinion of the Commission that it would be for the best
interest of the City to have this street resurfaced at this time so as to provide an
adequate road for truck route, provided that portlon of the street over the muck section will
be rebuilt so as to eliminate the bad dips, and also provided the work will be completed
before the next citrus season.
The Clerk was then directed to convey therecommendations of the Board to the County
Representatives at Tallahassee.
On motion of Commissioner Willtams, seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried,
the Commission next approved the purchase of one used GNC 2½ ton 6-x6 Truck from
War Assts Administration at a price of $5?0.00
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
