The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at lO:C0 o'clock A.M. September 10,1947. Present: Commissioner H.James Gut, Mayor. " Andrew Carraway " Lea R. Lesher " Robert A Williams City Manager H N Sayer Absent: Commissioner George D. Bishop. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. The City Manager next advised that Mr. Francis T.Meriwether had rejected the purchase of the old airport property under the proposed reservations that the City retain 50% of all mineral rights, but would accept it under the provisions that the City retain 50% of t the royalty on mineral rights stipulated in the lease agreement now in effect with Union Oil Company, Houston, Texas. Thereupon after further discussion, and on motion duly carried, the Commission authorized the sale of the aforesaid property to Mr. Meriwether at the price of $8,000.00 payable $3,000.00 cash and balance $1,000.00 annually with interest at 5% with privilege of paying entire balance at any tl~s within said term, the City reserving 50% of the roy- alty on mineral rights stipulated in the lease agreement with Union Oil Company dated November 14, 1944. Request next received from the colored Giants Baseball Team to use the Municipal Baseball Park for playing several baseball games during the next 30 days. Thereupon after considerable discussion and on motion duly carried, the Commission authorized the Colored Giants Baseball Team the use of the Municipal Ball Park, under the conditions that they will not ~use the clubhouse and not use the white grandstand for colored patronage; will pay all utility bills and keep the diamond and premises in good condition; and will turn it back to the City in good condition, subject to the inspection and approval of the City. On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized the purchase from Bishop Office Equipment Company, Orlando, of one six-swing set at a price of $149.24, to be installed for playground equipment for colored children under the Recreation Program. Further consideration next given to the request of the Seminole County Junior Chamber of Commerce to lease the Tourist Information Booth. Thereupon after considerable discussion of the terms and conditions, and on motion duly carried, the Commission authorized a lease agreement to be entered into for one year at a rental of $1.00, the City to furnish water and limited Janitor service, with a provision that it will not be used for any commercial activities during the term of the lease. The Commission then proceeded to a further study of the budget of revenues and expenditures for the fiscal year 1947-19~, after which the meeting adjourned. Attest:
