Bank statements in all accounts for month of September 1947, property reconciled, submitted and examined. ~.~r Alvin Odham, representing the Seminole County Junior Chamber of Commerce next ~poeared and requested the Commission to Join in with Orlando and other Central Florida cities in their efforts to have the Government Freedom Train stop in Central ~lorida on its national tour. Thereupon the City Attorney was directed to send a telegram to Governor Caldwell to uae his influence to have the Freedom Train stop in Central Florida on its return trip from l~iami and Tampa. Ur A E Davis and i!r.M.E. Cordell next appeared before the Board with further reference to the erosion to their property on East Third Btreet that is caused by Pump Branch, and offered to contribute the sum of $700.00 toward the cost to the City in installing a culvert and fill in this creek. Thereupon after considerable discussion and on advice of Supt. Lubinski that it would cost approximately $7,500.00 to construct tnb culvert aha fill, and in view of tnb fact that Pump Branch is a natural stream flowing between the properties of Er Davis and Mr. Cordell, it was the opinion of tnb Commission tn~t the City would not be Justified expending funds for the proposed project. l~r John Sassard and h[r. P.A.t,ero next appeared on behalf of the Dusty Boots & Saddle Club with further reference to their request to use the tract of land of the t.funiclpal Airport property located soutd~ of old Onora Road, extending from ~'ellonville Avenue east approximately 2500 feet, for the ouroose of constructing and operating a race track; statYng that they would construct a fence around the track area so as to keep the horses from getting on the b~eeb~ll field adjacent thereto, and would also keep all vehicle traffic attending their activities from encroachtng on the b~seb~ll field or damaging it in any way. Thereupon after considerable discussion ~nd on motion duly adopted, the Com- mission agreed to lease the aforesaid group of growers ~nd shippers the farm labor c~mp site at a rental of ~1.©0 per year. S~o prooerty being described ss Lot 2~ of Robinson Survey. The City }]snsger ne×t re ,orted of recuest received from merchants located on Commercial and Second Streets, and S~nford Avenue between ~irst and Commercial Streets for installation of oarking meters in i~ront of their places of business so as to eliminate the all-day parkers. Thereupon after considerable discussion and in view of the f~ct that the new ditch is outside the City and was constructed by the County, the City Yanager was instructed to contact the County Clerk with a view to have this condition corrected. Yr. Rolland Lundquist next a~>peared before the Board and requested the City to adopt a resolution requesting the County Commissioners to rescind the dedication of Lot 13 of Block 4 of Tier 1, E R Trafford's ~ap, for public use. This property nsving been acquired by the County thru foreclosure of tax liens and dedicated as site for public rest rooms to be constructed t~ereon, which have since been constructed in the Ace Amusements buildin~ adjacent thereto. Building at the airport, and that the ~,~ayor and Clerk be authorized to execute the contract ~en the executed lease agreement from Florida Fashions Inc. for use of the building has been returned to the City. Seconded by Commissioner Carraway and carried. / Application next received from J D Carlton for transfer to him of permit and license granted Kleanthis Ares to sell beer end wines~at 801 W Ninth Street, and on recommendation of Chief of Police Williams, same w(.s authorized. Application next received from H A Nannlng for permit to sell beer and wines at 1508 W. 13tn Street. Thereupon after considerable discussion as to the large number of beer and wine vendors now in operation on West Thirteenth Street, and on motion duly carried, the aforesaid eopllcation was denied because it wss felt that there are a sufficient number of vendors to serve this area. Application next submitted from Dr. R.L. Bass for permit to construct s concrete block ~nimal hospital building on Lot 36 of Block 5 Dreamwold Second Section, located on South Park Avenue. Thereupon after considerable discussion and on advice of the Building Inspector that this type of business at the aforesaid location is permissable under the Zoning Ordinance, Commissioner Bishop moved that the permit be grcnted. Seconded by Commissioner Carraway and carried over the dissenting vote of Commissioner Gut. On motion of Commissioner Lesher, seconded by Commissioner Carraway and carried, the Commission next authorized t~e purchase of a used Goodro~ds Rock Crusher from Dunham Concrete Company, Orlando, at a price of $450.00.
