The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 2:00 o'clock P M December 15, Present: Commissioner Robert A.Williams, Acting Mayor. , H.James Gut, Mayor ,, George D. Bishop ,, Andrew Carraway ,, Lea R.Lesher City Manager & Clerk H.N, Sayer Deputy City Clerk Gordon L. Bradley Chief of Police R.G. Wllliams Meeting called to order by the Chairman. The City Manager and Chief of Police next submitted a proposal for a 10% increase for all police officers except the Chief without increasing the salary appropriation, by a reduction of one patrolman in the force and the others working nine hours each day instead of eight, thus eliminating the vacancy created by resignation of patrolman Geiger on December 1, which had not been filled. Thereupon after considerable discussion, Commissioner Carraway moved that the salaries of the police department be increased 10~, effective as of December 1, 1947, provided a reduction of one patrolman is made in the force in order to provide the necessary funds for granting this increase, and that the remainder of the force work nine hours per day instead of eight. Seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried. The Commission next proceeded to a lengthy study and discussion of the map showing the additional parking zones in front of business places that should be con- trolled by parking meters, which was prepared as a result of the survey made by the Commission under date of December 4. Thereupon after careful consideration and on motion of Commissioner Lesher, seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried, the Commission authorized the purchase from M.H.Rhodes, Inc. of 50 Rhodemaster ~odel five-penny, one-nickel, two-hour parking meters at a price of $62.50 each, plus installation charge not to exceed $5.00 each, payable from 50~ of revenues to be derived therefrom; for installation at the following locations: l0 South Side of Commercial Street between Park avenue and the alley. 6 West side of Palmetto Avenue between First and Commercial Streets l0 South side of Second Street between Palmetto and Sanford Avenues ? South side of Second Street between ~!agnolia and Palmetto Avenues l0 8outh side of Second Street between Park and Eagnolla Avenues 5 North side of Second Street between Park and Magnolia Avenues. Commissioner Lesher next moved that the City exchange its 270 Perfection Model one-penny, one-nickel type meter heads with M.H.Rhodes, Inc. for the new Rhodemaster Model five-penny, one-nickel type heads at a cost of $10.00 each installed , and that such cost be added to the old purchase contract and paid from 50~ of the revenues to be derived from the meters. Seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried. Request next received from Fred W.Bender for an extension of time on his option to purchase Lots 4~ thru 55 of J E Psces's Subdiv. of Block "C" of Mellonville amd all of Amended Plat of victoria Park at a price of $3,000.OO Thereupon after considerable discussion, Commissioner Lesher moved that Mr. MINUTES City Commission, Saniorcl, Florida,De¢~mber 15...at, 2:0G-P...M .19 !*7 Seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried.
