The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the
City Hall in the City of ~anford, Florida at 7:~0 o'clock P.M. April 19, 1948.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, FURTHER REGULATING THE BUSINESS OF
TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS FOR CO~PENSATION , CO~C, ffONLY KNOWN AS THE" TAXI-CAB"
BUSINESS,MAKING ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ISSUANCE OF A PERi, IT TO OPER-
ATE SUCH BUSINESS; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE OF AN
IDENTIFICATION CARD TO EACH TAXI-CAB DRIVER, EXCEPT AS HEREIN PROVIDED, AND
RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING IDENTIFICATION CARDS HERETOFORE ISSUED BY THE CHIEF OF
POLICE TO TAXICAB DRIVERS; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOP THE DRIVER OF A TAXICAB TO
DRIVE A TAXICAB AFTER T'VO CONVICTIONS OF TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS AS HEREIN PROVIDED;
PROVIDING A PENALTY FOP SUCH OFFENSE AND FOR THE FORFEITURE FOR A PERIOD OF ONE
YEAR OF THE IDENTIFICATION CARD FOR THE DRIVIMG OF A TAXICAB AFTER SAID T~IO
CONVICTIONS AND AUTh~ORIZING APPLICATION AT THE END OF SAID YEAR TO THE CITY
COmmISSION FOR RESTORATION OF SAID IDENTIFICATION CARD AND MAKING IT UNLAWFUL
TO DRIVE A TAXICAB AFTER THE FORFEITURE OF AN IDENTIFICATION CARD, AND PROVIDING
A PENALTY FOR DRIVING A TAXICAB AFTER FORFEITURE OF IDENTIFICATION CARD.

Thereupon the roll w~s cslled for final passage and adoption of said Ordinance No.
434, the vote being as follows:

Thereupon the Chairman announced that the City Commission of the City of Sanford
Florida, by unanimous vote had passed and adopted said Ordinance No. 434, entitled:

FEITURE FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR OF THE IDENTIFICATION CARD FOR THE DRIVING OF A
TAXI-CAB AFTER SAID TWO CONVICTIONS AND AUTHORIZING APPLICATION AT THE END OF SAID
YEAR TO THE CITY CO~,~ISSION FOR RESTORATION OF SAID IDENTIFICATION CARD AND ~AKING
IT UNLAWFUL TO DRIVE A TAXICAB AFTER THE FORFEITURE OF AN IDENTIFICATION CARD AND
PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR DRIVING A TAXI-CAB AFTER FORFEITURE OF IDENTIFICATION CARD.
On motion duly adopted Ordinance No. 434 was next ordered POSTED at the front
door of the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, in accordance with the terms
of the Charter, as amended.
Further consideration was next given to the aoplication of B.H.Fox snd Walter J
Krohne Jr. for the position of Airport ~anager and the proposed change in airport operation,
necessitated by the termination of operations by Roy Brownir~ on May 20,1948.
Matter taken under advisement.
Report of the Recreation Committee for the summer activities of 1947 was next submitted
and approved.
On motion of Commissioner Chase, seconded by Commissioner Krlder and carried, the
Commission re-appointed Roy Holler, J.L. Ingley, Geo. A.Speer Jr.,Jack Ratigan, Eugene

Application of Fred R. Ganas for the position of Recreation Director was next submitted
and same was referred to the Recreation Committee.
Upon recommendation of Chief of Police Williams, Commissioner Chase moved the
approval of a Safety Lane to be sponsored by the Junior Chamoer of Commerce, for the
purpose of offering a free test of automotive equipment to motorists on Pourth Street
between Park and Oak Avenues April 22nd thru 24th. 19~8.
Seconded by Commissioner Krider and carried.
