The City Commission of the City of Sanz'ora, Florida, met in regular session
at the City Hall in theCity of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.i~. May 10,1948.

and payment authorized.

and library departments for month of april 1948, submitted and examined.
Financial statement and statement of revenues and expenditures during month of
April 1948 submitted and examined.
B~nk statements in all accounts for month of April 1948, properly reconciled,
submitted and examined.
Er. H M Caldwell, a representative of the St. Johns River Line Company next
appeared before the Board relative to the condition of the warehouse on the lake
front, the remains of which, the City reouested removed by the St. Johns River Line
Company.
Er. Caldwell stated that his company would not pull the piling at this time due
to the high cost of labor, but would wait until such tlr~e prices are more reasonable.
However, if the City desired to pull the piling at their own expense , his company would
give the City authority to do so, or if the City desires to ourchase the property, his
company would consider such ~ transaction.
No action taken.
Er. Bohannon and }(r. Fenn of Orlando, next appeared before the Board to aiscuss
their proposal to lease certain facilities in the nan~ar Ouilding ~'or operating an aviation
repair shop. Mr Bohannon stated that they would only consider leasing the entire rear
part of the hangar and would endeavor to work out an agreeaOle proposition with Steve
Benis for a glider ~chool.
Thereupon after considerable discussion and on motion duly carried, the Commission
agreed to lease the entlre rear portion of the hangar building to Eessrs Bohannon & Fenn
at an annual rental of ~1,800.00 for the first year, $3,000.00 for the second year and
at a figure to be agreed upon not to exceed ~6,000.O0 per year for the third, fourth
fifth years. After that a five year lease on terms to be agreed upon. All rentals to be
paid one year in advance. That the lessee will furnish the City free hangar space for
storage of four medium SiZe planes, if and when needed during the term of lease.

Thereupon after careful co~lderatl°n of the Olds suomitted, Commissioner
Carraway moved that the Commission accept the lowest cid, that of T.S.Crawley in
materiels, as per specifications

furnished by City, for constructing a skating rink on the colored recreation property
in Goldsboro.
Seconded by Commissioner Krlder and carried.
The City ~fanager next submitted a report showing the number of beer and wines
vendors on West Thirteenth Street, such report showing eight such vendors between
Ninth Street and Fourteenth Street. The City ~anager also submitted four new applica-
tions for beer and wine license in the same arch.
Thereupon after consideraKle discussion and on motion duly carried, the Com-
mission declined to issue any new aoplicatlons.

seconded by Commissioner Krider and carrled,
five man board to assist
the Commission next ~.utnorlzed the i~ayor to appoint a
J.~J.Clemlnsnaw Co., Appraisal Engineers, in establishing prices for land values on
all property on a front foot b~.sis.
The question then arose as to whether the board should be compensated for their

Aoplication next received from the South Atlantic Oil Co., Inc. to purchase the
lakefront property immediately west oF' the 8tanda~ Oil Company's property, for the
purpose of erecting a barge terminal.
Thereupon after considerable discussion and on motion duly carried, the Commission
authorized the five men bonrd, to be appointed by the ~[ayor to assist the J ~ Cleminshaw
Co. to est~bllsh a selling price on the aforesaid property.
Commissioner Lesher next introduced Ordinance No. 436, entitled:

City Attorney Wilson next suamitted tf, e proposed lease agreement with the
West Virginia Trai~ing School Inc. ~'or i'urtner consideration by the Commission.
Thereupon after considerable discussion and on motion duly carried, the City
~anager was instructed to employ a surveyor if necessary, so that the legaidescriptions
of land and buildings can be included in the lease.
Consideration was next given to the abundance of legal services required by the
City and the present compensation paid Attorney Wilson.
Thereupon Commissioner Carraway moved that Attorney Wilson be authorized to
employ additional legal services or to bill the City for additional cervicec rendered.
Seconded by Commissioner Chase and carried.
On motion of Commissioner C~rraway, seconded by Co~mlssioner Lesher and carried
the Commission next authorized the payment of $4,390.00 to the J.~'I.Cleminshaw Co.
for appraisal cervices to date.
Petitions next submitted from ti~e residents within the vicinity of Eleventh Street
and Cypress Avenue and Fourteenth Street and Elm Avenue, requesting street lights
at both intersections.
Thereupon Commissioner Krider moved that both requests be ordered filed.
Seconded by Commissioner Lesher aha carried.
On motion of Commissioner Chase, seconded b~ Commissioner Krider and carried, the
Commission next approved the conveyance without cost of Lot lll Amended Plat of ~agnolia
Heights to J C Wolfe,veteran of World War II, to construct a dwelling thereon within
six months from date of conveyance, under authority of Special Act of 1945 Legislature.
Communication next received from the ?renchmans B~y Bo~ting Company, advising that
contemplate operating an excursion boat from the municipal pier next season under
they
the provisions of their lease agreement.
