Current invoices and payrolls for month of June 1945, evidenced by voucher nos. 1746 thru 1855 submitted, properly audited and vouchered examined, approved and payment City to sanitation, health, water, police, fire, airport, and library departments for month of June 1948, submitted and examined. Financial statement and statement of revenues and expenditures during month of June 1948 s~mit~ed and examined. Bank statements in all accounts for month of June 19~8, properly reconciled, ~ubmitted and examined. Mr. J.Brailey Odham and George H. Williams, Jr. representatives of the Seminole County Junior Chamber of Commerce, next appeared before the Board and presented the organization's budget for the coming year, together with a request for an appropriation of $2,400.00 from the City's Pu01icity Fund for the operation of their tourist program. Matter taken under advisement. ~r. Odham next requested a reduction in the cost of a license for used car dealer, stating that he felt that it was unfair for a new car dealer to pay a license fee of $50.00 and a used car dealer to pay a fee of $300.00. Hatter taken under advisement. On motion of Commissioner Chase, seconded by Commissioner Krider and carried, the Commission next appointed Hugh Whelchel to fill the vacancy on the Civil Service Board, created by the resignation of H.E.Tooke,~r. on June l~, 1948. Consideration was next given to establishing a legal name for the airport property, whereupon Attorney Wilson was instructed to prepare an aopropriate resolution too e submitted to the Commission. The proposed plans and specifications on the dock and terminal facilities as prepared by Smith & Gillespie, Engineers, were next submitted for consideration by ~he Commission. Thereupon after considerable discussion Commissioner Chase moved that Hr. Edward Hi, gins, Manager of the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce, and one Commissioner, represent the City to submit t~e tentative application to Reconstruction Finance Corporation in ~ashington D.C. for their consideration, and that the expenses in connection therewith be borne by the City. Seconded by Commissioner Krider and carried. Com~nissioner Chase next reoorted on the inspection trip he and Commissioner Lesher had made of construction in the vicinity of Lakeland, using the Lintel Type block as proposed by Jack Ratigan at the meeting of June 28,1948, for construction of a swimming pool. Commissioner Chase further reported that this type of construction was s~:oarent- ly successful for buildings and other structures, but was not able to locate a swimming pool constructed in tills mariner. ~3atter taken under advisement. Consideration was next ~iven to the vault door at a cost of ~27.5©. No action taken. Thsre being no further business the instellation of a Badger Safe Protector on the meeting then adjourned.
