Meeting called to order by the Chairman who directed the Clerk to read the legal not!ce of this Hearing that was publlshed in the Sanford Herald on October 13th' and 2Oth, 194~, as follows: , NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AMENDMENT AND CHANGE IN BOUNDARIEs OF DISTRICT OF ZONING ORDINANCE IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA. NOtice is hereby g!ven that a Public Hearing will be held at the office of the City Com- re!ss!on !n the City Hall in the C!ty of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 p. M. on the 2gth day of October, 194~, to cons!der the following changes and amendments !n the zoning Ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida.. All parties By order of October, 19~. N. As City Clerk of the City of Sanford, Florida. The Chairman stated that the Commission would be glad to hear any protest from Part,es interested in the changes proposed in the foregoing notice. Mr. L. S. Harkey of 1902 French Avenue, subm!tted a petition signed by 25 property owners !n the v!cinity of the property uhder consideration, and stated that he thought any bus!ness on that property would be detrimental to the welfare of the high school students aa well aa to the home owners in that locality. Mr. Herman Mort!s, Pr!no,pal of Seminole H~'gh School, Mr. L. V. MCLaulin of 406 W. 19th., Street and Mrs. Gladys A. 8m! th of 425 W. 18th Street also protested age!net chang!nc the classXficat!on of the property under cons!darer!on as they felt that any business would crease the traff!c hazard and also some businesses would be no!sy wh!ch would make it d!f- flcult for teaching classes in the 8outh end of the High School Build!nc. Mr. George A. Speer, Jr., and Mr. V. A. Speer, owners of the property as well as Mr. ~. A. M!kkola, Mr. Harry Carr!ngton and Mr. Porter Lane!nc owners of property in the vlc!n!ty, requested that the classificat!on of the property under consideration be changed, as they felt that it was for the best interest of the City to have new business f!rms come town. Also that French Avenue is a State Highway and des!gnated aa a Truck Route. There being no further protest registered, Commise!oner Cbmse moved that the Zoning MINUTES Florida, October 2~ at g:O~ ~M ..... 19.~. City Commission, Sanford, - ...................................... ordinance be amended so as to transfer the propertY descr!bed in the foregoing notice from District R-1 (one single Family) to DiStrict C-1 (Cor~ercial Reta!l) and that the CitY Attorney be instructed to prepare an appropriate ordinance.
