The City Commission of the City of S~.nford, ~ori~ met In Special Session at the City Hall In the City of °snford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P N February l, 1949. for the purpose of a public hearing to consider changes in the boundaries of certain districts of the Zoning Ordin~ce. Present: Commissioner Andrew Carraway, ~{ayor. " F.A. Dyson John Krider Sr. " W.H.Stemper City Attorney A.Edwin Shlnholser City Manager Clifford NcKibbin Jr. City Clerk H.N.Sayer. Deputy City Clerk Gordon L.Bradley. Absent: Commissioner Rsndall Chase. Meeting called to order by the Chairman who directed the Clerk to read the legal notice of this Hearing that was published in the Sanford Herald on January 12th and 19, 1949, as follows: NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED CHANGES IN BOUNDARIES OF CERTAIN DISTRICTS OF THE ZONING OMDINANCE OF THE CITY_ OF SANFORD, FLORIDA. Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held at the office of the City Commission in the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. February l, 1949, to consider the following changes and amendments to the zoni~ Ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida. The Property zoned in District R-1-A ( One Single Family) described as Lots 1,2 and 3 of Block 1 Hig~aland Park located at the southeast corner of 20th street and French Avenue, is proposed to be changed to C-1 (Commercial-Retail) District. The Property Zoned in District R-1-A ( One Single Family) described as Lots 156 and 157 of Sanford Heights Addition located at northeast corner of 2(~th Street and French Avenue, is proposed to be changed to C-1 ( Commercial-Retail ) District. All parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard at said hearing. All protest against such changes should also be submitted in ~iting. The Chairman stated that the Commission would be glad to hear any protest from parties interested in the changes proposed in the foregoing notice. There being no protest registered, Commissioner Krider moved that the Zonirg Ordinance be amended so as to transfer the property described in the foregoing notice from District R-1-A (One Single Family) to District C-1 (Commercial Retail) and that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an appropriate ordinance. Seconded by Commissioner Dyson and carried. The Commission then adjourned the Public Hearing and reconvened to take up any other matters that may come before it at this time. Consideration was next given to the need for a trat'fic light at the inter- section of 20th. Street and French Avenue. Thereupon after considering the fact that there is not a Community Chest im the City, Commissioner Dyson moved that the aforesaid check be forwarded to the Fernald- Laughton Memorial Hospital. Seconded by Commissioner Stemper and c~rried. Request next received from Mrs Lois Wight, to be allowed 3% discount on the tax bill for the Welaka Buildirg. No action taken. Consideration was next given to the hsuling and placing of shell on certain areas of the new ball park. Thereupon after considerable discussion and on advice of the City Manager that the estimated cost would amount to approximately $200.00, Commissioner Stemper moved that shell be hauled and placed on certain areas of the new ball park. Seconded by Commissioner Dyson and carried. On motion of Commissioner Stemper, seconded by Commissioner Dyson and carried, the Commission next authorized the securing of a surety bond in amount of $5,000.00 for City Manager Clifford McKlbbin Jr. There being no further business the meeting then adjourned.
