The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Floridaat 8:00 o'clock P. Mo March ?, 1949. Present: Commissioner Andrew Carraway, Mayor " Randall Chase " F. A. Dyson " ~. H. Stemper City Attorney A. Edwin Shlnholser City Manager Clifford NcKibbin, Jr., City Clerk H. N. Sayer Deputy City Clerk Gordon L. Bradley. Absent: Commissioner John Krider, Sr. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Mr. Edward Miggins, Manager of the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce, next appeared before the Board and reported on the trip he and Mayor Carraway made to Washington, D. C. to confer with officials of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, relative to the securing of a loan for the construction of dock and terminal facilities, and indicated that progress was being made and that the City in all probability will be granted the loan. The Board of Bond Trustees, consisting of W. A. Leffler, Geo. D. Bishop and Fra:k Shames, next appeare~ before the Board to discuss the need for reducing the City's bonded indebtedness, due to the fact that the interest rate on bonds increases every five years. Consideration was next given to the location of the proposed swimming pool. Thereupon Commissioner Chase moved that the swimming pool be located in Fort Mellon Park, centered between Seminole Boulevard and East First Street, opposite Lake View Avenue, according to the recommendation of the City Manager. Seconded by Commissioner Dyson and carried over the disenting Vote of Commissioner Stemper. On motion of Commissioner Dyson; seconded by Commissioner Stemper and carried, the City Manager was next authorized to purchase one cst load of Cold Lay Asphaltic Contrete, to patch some of the streets in the City, from the Florida Crushed Stone Company, Ocala Florida, at a cost of $5.50 per ton.
